I finally went to ULTA! I can't believe I've never been there before. I got some makeup and a pretty hair clip. I have a small hair clip collection but now I think it will grow pretty quickly now that I know where to get really nice ones!! I don't buy much makeup but I think I'll go see what else they have now and then.
Yeah, I like Ulta, but Sephora better. There are 2 (Ulta) locations in my area & they're about to build a 3rd, which will be the closest to me.
Work all weekend on & off in prep for this coming week. The caseload's just too large. It's right under the limit when they start to give an asst....what a coincidence. If it were 1/2 the caseload, then that would be much better. I'm trying to think long & hard if I should resign or not.
Rainy off and on all day today. I honestly don't remember the last time we had a full day like this; it's been months. It's been a perfect day to curl up with a book and a cup of tea (and I'm about to swap the tea for a glass of wine!).
This morning we did errands around the house, then went to a marching band competition. We got groceries on the way home. We just hit home from my mom's house. It's her 70th birthday, so we took her out for supper and bought her a cake and a six-pack of different kinds of beer.
It rained here in the morning did some house cleaning. We went to local fruit farm. Came home made a bonfire. Had pizza pudgie (hobo) pies made in soft tacos. Then a s'more of course.
Beach day with some friends who live in a condo penthouse overlooking the ocean. Dinner watching the harvest moon rise over the water.
Today, I'll be working like I did last night. Did my morning walks again like I like to do. Maybe I'll browse the bookstore or if not today, then tomorrow or Monday.
Beautiful weather! Hair and nail appointments, shopping with my mom and then late afternoon movie (Sully) with the hubs. We went to a cool new theater with individual boxes- reclining seats, cozy, cocktail able, waiter service. We got yummy sliders and cocktails. So much fun.
We did some shopping at Kohls, then got groceries. Nothing exciting. We also cleaned some windows at the house we are selling. The housekeeper didn't do Windows.
Did some laundry, mowed, went to neighbor's house and out to a fruit farm to pick some honey crisp apples.
I know it is not Saturday... but it was beautiful here today. Did some weeding in my new strawberry plants from spring and flower gardens. We had a bonfire (I can still smell the smoke in clothes...will wash tomorrow). I don't mind because we have wild cherry trees and power company had to trim trees last year so we kept logs to burn. Smells like fall! Lol. Oh we had burgers cooked over bonfire and s'mores, of course!
I stopped going to the farms to pick apples because I don't usually want that many at a time. There are several farmer's markets around so I pick up some here and there. I used to have so much fun apple picking though!
We go to the farm.. we can pick by pound. So it works out cheaper than store especially for honeycrisp. We pay 95 cents a pound. Lol. Plus family that owns the farm is just GREAT, so we love supporting them as long as they are opened. Lol. They are less than 10mins away...so that helps too.
The last few places we went to sold them by the bag and the bags were HUGE. We spent a fortune and didn't really use them all. I wouldn't mind paying by the pound.
I don't think I would like to buy if I had to in huge bags. Lol. They give us large bags, but we pick like a dozen or so. Lol. We pay like $7. Lol. It works good for us. I know we are lucky. Lol
Eh, they might do that at some of the farms but I'm too lazy to check them out LOL There are TONS of apple farms in my county as well as the surrounding counties. It's quite overwhelming when choosing where to go.
NY. There are many around us... but this one is the closest...luckily we have gotten to know the owners well. Lol. I can think of 3 others about the same distance... lol.
Yesterday I went to Barnes and Noble with my mom. Picked up Whole 30 (anyone try this?) and a book for a friend's new grandchild. Some errands, lots of laundry and college football on tv. Thinking of heading to farm today for some apples and other produce. Champagne toast later with son and his new fiancée
Rainy in morning....so laundry. Afternoon was sunny. Took care of some flower garden stuff and put out some Halloween stuff.
We did some maintenance at the house we are selling, then did some stuff on the house we are remodeling. I feel like we live at Lowes.
I wish it was sprinkling or raining here. Morning walk, like usual & working all weekend. May go to movies tomorrow IF fiance has tomorrow off...(been saying BF for so long, it's easier to type that, ha!)
It has been an exceptionally beautiful fall day here! I spent the afternoon outside participating in a writing inquiry for a university course I am taking. Now that I'm home, I'm ready to curl up with popcorn and a movie. But friends are popping in right away, so I am resisting the desire to put my pajamas on already!!
I've been home sick since Wednesday. I did go out with DH today to take the girls for grooming. I need to try to catch up with my lessons tonight because we will be gone all day tomorrow to a concealed weapon permit training.
Sat - Worked some & had a nice little trip to the mall w/ my Mom. Sun - Worked several hrs, then going to a Rise of the Jack O' Lantern event, then dinner at Souplantation, then maybe the movies! I rarely go out at night, so this will be nice for a change.
Friday evening slept a lot. My daughter just got her driver's license, so I'm free, but I'm also free to worry a lot now lol. She's very careful though. Then Saturday afternoon we hunt deer hunting one last time, season closes today. It was raining, we camped in a huge tent in the rain, it was fun, except for I was cold Left my blanket at home. The tent had 2 rooms, that was nice. It was beautiful in the mountains, by Shaver Lake. Went there almost every weekend the past 2 months, but it looked different in the rain. Came home today. I pretty much have all camping gear except for lanterns and camp stoves, I'm looking into that. Up until now I always just had camp fire for cooking and keeping warm. But due to fire restrictions, in many places you can only use camp stoves. I'll be going camping and hunting many more times, so I need to invest in a few more things (for the past two months it was always in a camper or in a spare bedroom when I went hunting, that was nice.). But I missed real camping. Now I'm just relaxing, I'm going to cook all my lunches and maybe plan some thing ahead of time.
Last weekend we were away so this weekend was full of errands, catching up...DH and I made an awesome dinner last night-cod with citrus glaze over sautéed spinach. Saw my parents this morning, went to the farm for apples, then an afternoon of football and Halloween prep.
Working all weekend, then tomorrow (Mon.), maybe going to the movies. I'm trying to make more money this month for Christmas & into the new year when it's a couple of people's birthdays.
Went camping. Yes in the cold all my friends think I'm crazy. I went to a lake, actually it's the river that feeds into it (Kings River), there's a free campsite there with bathrooms, benches and grills (17 campsites total). I've been there 3 times already. It was just me and my dog, and one other group. It wasn't even cold! It's colder here in this town, the elevation is only 1000 ft there, so I knew there wouldn't be snow, but I thought it's be colder. I took a blow up mattress, sleeping bag and 2 blankets, and a tent, it was very comfortable. My German Shepherd slept with me in the tent, as always. It was so comfortable, that I slept from 8 pm until 11:30 am !! I used my one burner camp stove, make a big pot of soup, in the morning made coffee and fried up some sausages. I have a lantern, and around here the sun sets before 5 pm, after that i's dark. After 7:30, I read a book in my tent, then went to sleep. It was nice. The river was very soothing, to just sit there and listen, I didn't even hike, just let me dog run around. Definitely looking forward to going back. I bought a huge tent, it sleeps 10, has 2 rooms, but another area, I want to take them with some friends, and both my dogs. I'll buy a heater by then. I'd be nice to go on New Years Eve.
Yep, caseload way too high for my liking. This would be my last time with a supervisor, so I'm trying to learn thoroughly, not be so bogged down with 60-70+ kids on the caseload w/ no chance of getting an assistant.
Ah, got off to an early start this morning & did some Christmas shopping at Walmart before starting some work!
Morning errands. Afternoon spent watching college football. American Legion Christmas party tonight with my war hero hubs
It was a "Christmas" kind of a day. Hit one of the big malls first thing this morning--it's an annual tradition. This afternoon, I went to get my Christmas tree and was so proud to do it all myself for the first time. Tonight, I'm curled up with a glass of wine and my book, enjoying the lights on the tree and getting ready to watch the Major League Soccer playoffs (and cheer on the home team!)
Went outside & played in the snow... My guess about 17 inches. We had 11 from the other night. The deck was shovelled off & had about 6 when it was shovelled off this afternoon. Whew a workout walking up & down hills. Lol.
I went to a street fair, did some tutoring, laminated stuff for school, went grocery shopping, and took a nap with my snuggle kitty. I've watched holiday movies and read this evening. It was a productive but restful day.
I stayed home, but it was still a work day. I typed up the family Christmas letter, addressed card envelopes, cleaned a bit, went to Lowe's for paint and and outdoor power strip, put up some of the yard decorations, and finished lesson plans. Today will be just about as busy. We have a handyman coming over to make some repairs around the house and paint the main floor bathroom, and I am going to have the boys helping me clean/pick up a bit.
