The weather's perfect here: Sunny, yet the air isn't uncomfortably hot.

    I will...

    mail an important letter
    get myself breakfast
relax at home for a while
clean off my desk that gets cluttered way too quickly!
probably go out again later with the boyfriend

I need to get this online traffic school over with! This is my 1st ticket in yrs...speeding on a fwy, yet myself & others go just as fast on most other fwys.:mad:

    I'm going to...
    - buy some groceries
    - lay on the sun in the back yard
    - clean up my back yard a bit
    - have ADT install my alarm system between noon- 5 pm

Other than than, I don't think I'm going anywhere tonight. I still have very few friends. I've lived here for a little over 2 months. How do you make friends in a new town?
And I'm a little broke, have to watch every dollar until the end of the month, so I can't even go out to dinner with my daughter. I'll just cook.

I'm in SoCal too & am enjoying the slightly overcast morning! Currently I'm drinking my morning coffee before the baby wakes up, but I will probably:

-try to wake up my lazy DH!
    -take out the trash
-sift through my bedroom & kitchen for items to give away/throw away to prepare for our move next month
-bring those items to my parents for their future yard sale

I'm also a bit broke, so my craving to go out to brunch will have to wait :(

Slowly packing up my hotel room in Santa Cruz after a long/early weekend with the fam. There's a soccer tournament on the beach so we're watching that from the balcony.

I was out late last night at Relay for Life. I walked 25 laps at the track between 11:00-2:00. It was almost 4 before I went to sleep. Got up about 11:30 this morning.

I'm still in pajamas, and it's after 1:00. Here's what is on my list after I get dressed.

    • pick up tree limbs in yard from storm last week
    • trim some tree branches
    • put lawn chairs back in garage
    • sweep floors
    • wash bathroom rugs
    • change aquarium filters

I might start gathering up some stuff for my trip next week. I've got lots going on this week, and. Can't pack last minute.

I went to market day on the town square. I got almost everything I was looking for. I drove around looking for houses for sale. I'm thinking about a nap later.

It's not so nice in this part of CA. It's only 11, and it's already over 90 degrees. We're supposed to get up close to 110 today!

I'm planning on staying indoors in the AC today. My husband is hosting poker night tonight, so I have to clean the house while he goes grocery shopping.

Just finished my homework for my class and am listening to my favorite radio show, The Moth. I should put it on my headset and go for a walk.

We finally have summer weather and today I
    - went to the farmer's market
    - cleaned up the garden and watered the plants

Currently I am working on my final report cards... it's so hard with that beautiful sunshine taunting me!

It's pouring rain. Read on Facebook that the Relay for Life in Halifax had to be cancelled due to a bomb threat. Absolutely disgusted that someone would do that.

I know everyone says to get out there & join activities. I don't know, I've lived in my city for years & only have a few acquaintances/pals I lunch with about once a year. The 2 closest friends I ever had long ago are no longer in my life: One passed away very young due to health issues. The other moved away to college & remained living there.

Here in my part of CA, it's supposed to be well over 100 degrees today! Yuck!

I'm here at home watching a movie with the AC cranked down to 70.

Later today, I'm having my parents over for dinner.

We got back from a family fishing trip yesterday evening. Today was filled with unpacking, laundry, and other related chores. The drizzly, damp weather didn't help with some of those things (like being able to hang the life jackets and rain suits out on the clothesline to dry). I also went through all the boxes of stuff I have stored in my parents' basement. It's mostly childhood mementos, stuffed animals, a few toys, etc. They have plenty of space, so I'm okay with leaving those couple tubs down there for a few more years. Now I'm crashing on the couch for a bit with a snack and a book!

This morning was very cloudy... perfect weather for a long slow run. Then I hit up the farmers market, and later took a nap. Now I'm debating on whether I want to a) sit and read, b) update my portfolio and fill out some job applications, or c) clean up my apartment. Pretty sure a) is going to win.

Well, I got my alarm system installed. I only signed up for the one that uses the phone line, because that's all I could afford for now. But anyone could cut the phone line, it's right upfront next to my front door. The cellular (wireless) one would be another $100 + a little more / month. I was going to do that when I get paid in 3 weeks.
The guy who sold me the set was very nice: The installer told me that he contacted him and told him to do the cellular one without anything extra!! How sweet is that??
Now I don't have to worry, we can sleep in peace, and I can even leave my house to socialize and leave my daughter at home, like I used to.

Walked the dog while it was nice and cool, this morning.

Lots of yardwork- it seems like a life-long project getting some landscaping in this 1 1/2 acre yard.

Ran some errands with husband - Lowe's ( of course), library, and Joanne's.

    Picked up Chinese for dinner.

Now sitting in the gazebo reading and playing on the computer.

Great day! Hope everyone else had a nice day.

We went to pick up our new laptops at Best Buy, had a quick bite to eat then went to the driving range. Our 3 year old is getting much better at hitting the ball! It was a hot one though. Arizona summers are brutal.

So I ended up going to the beach, which surprisingly in my part of SoCal was overcast. BUT that made it perfect because my baby got his first beach experience and it was an ideal temperature for him to enjoy himself! He didn't do anything because he's only 2 months old, but he definitely found the ocean breeze quite fun!

I also tried a new dinner recipe-honey mustard pretzel crusted chicken. It was DELISH! Now enjoying a quiet evening with a glass of wine while baby boy is napping :)

I have decided to go on the beaches on this lovely weather as I have not been able to devote some time for my own. It could have been more perfect because if I manage to take the preschoolers too with me so that they might have wonderful beach experience as it is an ideal temperature for them to enjoy.

It's the following weekend, but I'm working my last weekend shift for my current job this morning-I always request 6am shifts if I have to work a weekend day so it's over earlier in the day. ;)

Then one of my new teaching partners is coming over and we're going to raid the Sprout Classrooms garage/warehouse. I haven't had the store live since I had Henry-too much going on to ship orders-so there are thousands of books just sitting down there. We'll figure out what we can use for this school year, and then rest are going into a huge moving sale or onto eBay. She's bringing her kids and husband, so we'll have a grill-out for lunch and play in the pool and enjoy the day! Should be beautiful, around 80 degrees.

Tomorrow we're meeting up with dh's parents for father's day. I want to get some pictures of ds in the park for his 1 year pictures, and we have a photo project we're working on to announce my new teaching job and move. I'll post here when it's done. So eating and pictures-hurrah!

I can't think of the last time I mailed a letter.

Right now it looks like I'm going to spend most of the day inside watching movies and cuddling with my pups. I've been feeling under the weather lately and just want to veg out. Besides that, it's like 110 outside and one of the mountains nearby is on fire, so the sky is full of haze and ash. The air quality isn't good. I'd rather just stay inside today.

Later tonight my hoosband and I might go out to a free movie: Beetlejuice! It's not until midnight, so I am hoping that I feel better by then.

Pouring rain again here, so I mopped the kitchen floor and then laid out the quilt backing, batting and quilt top for the quilt for my daughter's new queen -size bed at home. After crawling around and pinning the layers together, my knees are killing me!

Ima - why did I never think of knee pads? My husband actually has some from when we put hardwood flooring in our great room. I will dig them out for the next quilt! The pattern is a modified Log Cabin; my daughter wanted blues and grays and while I was skeptical at first, once I started sewing I love it!

Kat53 - quilting is a lot of fun! Find a class or a friend and get started. I like making baby quilts and wall hangings a lot; bed quilts are wonderful but the size gets a bit unwieldy, so start with something smaller for your first project. Right now I am working on two more bed quilts, a Christmas tree skirt, and a wall hanging.
Come and get all the rain you can carry; I have mushrooms growing in my yard.
