What would you do?

I'm a seventh grade teacher. In my country, seventh grade is part of elementary school because we don't have middle schools. In my class last year, there was a popular girl. The situation is that she was wearing very low rise jeans and the waistband of her underwear was showing. When this happened, I was shocked. I didn't know whether to tell her or not. Luckily, none of the boys in the class saw. The thing is that she usually wore very low rise jeans and never had this problem. Just this time, she was unlucky because the jeans moved below the waistband of her underwear. I know this is a difficult question, but what would you do if a girl in your class had this wardrobe malfunction?

I'm assuming you are a man, hence the hesitation saying something. Usually I just make a class statement...everyone, make sure your britches are pulled up. In a specific case like yours, I would ask a nearby female teacher to talk to the young lady.

Is there a school dress policy?

We've had a lot of dress code posts lately from new members focusing on girls' issues. Makes me wonder if they're all the same person.

OP, I suggest asking a female colleague to pull the student aside to have a conversation about clothing choices.

If you noticed...so did 7th grade boys! An adult female needs to take care of the situation.

Heaven forbid the boys see the waistband of her underwear. They can't be expected to avert their eyes.

Just re read the OP. From outside of US so we can't really impose our culture on theirs. Waistband might be scandalous in some countries.

The other day my entirely naked 4-year-old (I had no idea she was naked) was talking to the neighbor's grandsons across the fence.

Life moves on. Odds are most boys can handle it.
