    I will;

    Not get stressed out.
Not take my job too seriously.
    laugh more with my students
    use incentives more
    play more games
    show student work
    smile more
    not eat at our cafeteria
    be more organized
Make more efforts to include and please parents
Let the students create more products
Enjoy my job each and every minute
Be thankful for all of my students.

    I will

    - do workshop based math

    - take longer to establish procedures andn expectations
    - remember they are only 6 years old

I will say no more often and stand up for myself when I feel like I'm getting dealt a bad hand by admin. In years past I kept my mouth shut because I thought that by not complaining about anything I would be viewed as a valuable team player. I've come to realize that I am not valued like I believe I should be. I'm going to go in on time, do my job, and leave on time. No extras except things that make me happy, like my club stuff. No committees, staying when meetings run past contract time, volunteering for extra duties, none of that. If my contributions aren't worth anything, I will stop contributing.

Sorry if I sound like a grump, but it's the truth.

    I will
    - go back to being self contained
    - maintain an amazing classroom website (to help land a different job last year AND to aid with parent communication)
    - stay more organized (I hope)
    - step down from being the Science Fair Coordinator

-communicate my feelings better to my co-teacher
-get to know my students on more personal level- I felt like last year I was so focused and task oriented on the teaching aspect of everything that I didn't stop to say, "what did you do this weekend?" "what TV did you watch last night?"
-go on a field trip in the fall (we didn't go on our first until January last year)
-take advantage of lesson plans my grade level colleagues have used (didn't really have this option last year.
    -interactive writing (hopefully!)

Me too. I'm going to test the waters, but if they haven't improved much, I am NOT killing myself trying to get the students to grade level. I'll work hard, but I'm not sacrificing my health and well being. I'm going into year three so maybe these are lessons learned by experience...good luck to you and stand your ground.

After teaching for 3 years, I will be a teacher teaching during the contracted time and not have to be on any committees or take any professional development classes. I have 18 credits when I only need 5 to renew my license in 2 more years. :D

    I will...

    • try Guided Math groups
    • incorporate cooperative learning structures (thanks, Kagan!)
    • not let stressors get under my skin
    • set myself a schedule and keep to it
    • exercise (cardio) at least 3 times per week
    • spend more time on routines & procedures at the beginning of the year
    • focus on more positive forms of management ("I like how Johnny is .....," etc.)
    • keep a gratitude journal
    • not let other people's bad attitudes affect me

    I will:
*Begin this year with a positive attitude, and not getting sucked into the negativity that exists in our building so that I stay positive
*Follow Responsive classroom because I believe it works
*Show enthusiasm with my class because it is contagious
    *Learn more about common core
*Learn to say "no" and mean it, not with my kids, but with staff and admin

    This year, I will...

    - Make my classroom more home-y by bringing a small fridge and microwave
-Keep healthy snacks and other personal items in my cabinet
-Set up an immaculate classroom (at least as close as I can get)
    -Not get as stressed
-Become more organized with dates and deadlines

I will use as little paper as possible.
    I will plan in advance.
I will do more writing with my kids.
I will be stricter and give fewer warnings.
I will not take on any huge and thankless problems.
I will keep my classroom neat.

Last year for me was horrendous. I refuse to have another year like that. My biggest goal is to stay positive and to leave work at work. If I have to plan over the weekend, so be it, but I don't want to do it EVERY weekend.

-be very careful about who I trust, remembering always that gossip is tempting to everyone and not worth it in the end.

-use reflection forms for the first step of behavior correction. I will not let them push my buttons, I will not let them mess with my calm. They need me to stay strong and dependable.

-Have labeled files for every kind of paper that comes across my desk--no more stacks of god-knows-what.

-take care of myself. Make sure to prep yogurt cups on Sunday for breakfast all week, always bring a low-sugar, filling lunch, and get my nails done once a month because it boosts my confidence. I managed that breakfast thing ONCE last year.

-Be more consistent and firm with students. Now that I'm going into my second year, I'm definitely more confident with my behavior management skills, and I hope to maintain an even level of consistency no matter what the situation.

-Keep my IEP data more organized. I plan on doing more assessments and probes in order to highlight student growth and areas of weakness. My data collection was pretty weak last year, and I definitely want to step it up this year.

-I won't let school consume my life. Instead of having 3 preps and teaching resource, I will be co-teaching with 2 preps. I'm hoping that this new set-up will allow me to share a lot of the responsibilities that burdened me last year. I will not be staying until 6:00 pm every night this year!

-I will try to enjoy my students. As a new teacher with a class of "difficult" students, I felt like the majority of my time was spent on discipline and me feeling overwhelmed by everyone's needs. This year, I'm hoping that increased organization and shared responsibilities will clear up some "mind space" and allow me to have the energy to enjoy my students' unique personalities, sense of humor and individual gifts :)

I will experiment with the online interactive version of our lit book and our grammar book. I tend to assume the worst about textbooks, but these two look pretty cool.

I will try to spend the majority of each period standing. My room is VERY tiny (with usually about 10 students), so it's easy when I stand sometimes I feel like I'm invading their space. But so many studies show that the more you stand, the healthier you are, so I want to work on that.

I am going to use yoga in the classroom for the 1st time-very excited about that.

I am going to try to do everything in my power to actually get parents on my side and to support behavior/expectations.

I am going to try to use every minute of the day better-no matter how hard I try, I always feel like we lose instructional time in transitions because of having to redirect behavior.

I'm going to use facets of the "flipped classroom" to differentiate.

Once a week I'm going to use learning styles to divide kids into groups instead of levels.

I will teach and reteach my rules rather than say them once.
I will not ignore the small things like someone sitting on the table rather than his seat.
I want students to present more!

I dunno about myloveasdeep, but I make yogurt cups as follows:
    1 cup nonfat Greek yogurt
2 tablespoons natural peanut butter (the oil has been poured off)
some stevia (I don't measure) or Kroger's sugar-free brown sugar
    some cinnamon, or vanilla flavoring

That's it! I make it ahead of time - easy-peasy - I don't even mix it up until lunch time! In fact, last year, if my kiddos didn't want to line up correctly for lunch, all I had to do was get out my yogurt & start stirring, then quietly mention that I didn't have to go to the cafeteria for my lunch, lol!

Be even more strict that usual; keeping them in line is a must.
Slow down and not worry about all the extra requirements.
    Sit down more.
Prepare sub plans more in advance.

I'm similar. Tupperware cups,1 cup greek yogurt, 1/2 cup of some kind of fresh or frozen fruit, a teaspoon of honey or agave.

Oh, and lunch: usually involves dinner leftovers consisting of meat and roasted veggies, maybe whole-grain spaghetti or brown rice. If there are not leftovers, a hard boiled egg, cheese and crackers, tomatoes and basil, and fruit. Sometimes I make a big batch of vegetable soup, put it in five containers, and take that all week.

I don't advocate for Atkins or anything, but I'm insulin-resistant and sugar makes me crash really hard.
