What do you plan to do on your 1st official day of summer vacation? :)

That day will be Thurs., May 26th for me. I'll probably relax at home & maybe go to the gym, but I'll still have rigorous grad classes every season (including summers) for the next 3 yrs! Also, maybe have pizza or Chinese food as a little treat for myself! :)

The 1st of July will be my first day of summer vacation--right now, that seems like too far away to think about. It's a holiday here, so we'll likely go to the town festivities, have a BBQ and watch the fireworks from the back deck.

June 1st. My staff moves in and I begin leading training at the summer program where I work in the summer. I will be working two jobs for awhile during the overlap of when school ends and my summer job starts.

MissCeliaB, how many yrs have you had this summer job & is it full time? I'd be so done (about a month before school was out), I wouldn't be ready to start something different all summer. :dizzy:

This is my 10th year with the program and my 4th year in my current position. I love it, and can't imagine not doing it. My duties start part time about this time each year (a few hours a week increasing until the program) but I officially start the last Saturday of May. I end being full-time on June 26, but usually put in a few hours over the next few weeks after that.

Enjoy the fact that I do not have to wake up to the sound of an alarm going off. It is my ritual to clean the hosue that day from top to bottom.

    Work.

My first day of vacation is on a Friday, and summer school starts the following Monday. I'm teaching 5th-graders, which is totally out of my element, so I will have a lot of preparing to do.

I'm actually taking some professional development within the first week off. The first day off, I may still be wrapping up my classroom for the summer...

I'd like to get the house in order (it's a disaster) so I can enjoy the rest of the summer. Our summers are fairly short...not the summers of yesteryear people still refer to when debating education. Three months? Yeah, I don't think so. Anyhow, so I want to get that taken care of, which will take a few days, and then besides some landscaping issues I need to resolve, I have nothing major planned.

Students' last day is May 27. Then we have a couple of staff days until June 2.

SWIM!! My pool is opening this week even though it is chilly out. We have the pool guys installing heat and a salt water system. I'm not out until June 9.

Our last day with the kids is Friday, June 3. I have a week's worth of staff development June 6-10, then I start teaching summer school June 13-24! My first *real* day off is June 27th, and I will be driving to Austin to pick up my daughter from camp at UT. :) Oy. Fortunately, nearly my entire month of July is free, and I'm going on a week long cruise in the middle of that month. Yeah!!!!
