I really don't want to wear a suit.
I am heading over to my school to check out my classroom and meet with my mentor and I want to be somewhat comfortable.

I was thinking of wearing a short sleeve mini cable sweater with black pants and black flats.

    Is that ok?

I don't know... I asked my principal how anyone would not make it past the superintendent meeting, and he said the number one way that people don't make it is if they don't treat it like an interview. He said that you will be judged immediately by how you dress and present yourself because until the ink hits the contract, you're not in the clear yet. Above all else, the superintendent has the final say. I would wear the suit.

Worst case is that you have to wear a suit for a few hours. Best case is that you have your picture taken for your badge, and you'll look professional (that's what happened to me, so I'm glad I had the suit on).

I agree with dressing as if it's an interview. You are meeting someone important and you should dress for it. You don't want to come across as disrespectful.
You'll also be meeting your mentor teacher and that person is important as well. You'll have plenty of opportunities to "dress comfortably" when you go to work every day.
YAY!! Congratulations!! Go sign those papers!

    Hello to all newbies!!!

I would go with layers! A dress shirt/blouse, pants, and jacket, and you can't go wrong. I would wear heels or dress shoes. You can always pull off your jacket, and roll up your sleeves to attack your room. (bring some flats or gym shoes for working in the class)

You can dress down, but you can't dress yourself up! I would rather look out of place for being over-dressed than under-dressed!

    Thanks Ms. H.

Now, after you sign, and celebrate, and work in your room...you must come back and tell us all every detail.

Then, you can offer some advice to other Job Seekers here!!!

Tell everyone that magic moment, when you know you had the job! Some principals even tell you, "I knew you were the right person when you said...."

You guys make me want to frame my offer letter!
