Can someone please tell me what to take grades on and how many should I take per week per subject?
At my school, we are told to that for each subject we should take 2 grades/week. The grades could be on class work, tests, quizes..
Can you take a participation grade?
What grade are you teaching? If it is part of your report card grade for the subject, then I can't see why not.
I am teaching 2nd grade and I feel overwhelmed. This grade thing has got my stomach in knots. What can I do to simplify this process?
How are your grades being weighted for their report card? For example,
Test - %
Assignments - %
Quizzes - %
Check with the teachers on your grade level if you don't have the info. We usually don't give a participation grade for 2nd grade. If you want to, you could PM me your e-mail address and I could e-mail you the weighted grades I used when I taught in Georgia.
thanks for all your help
I personally would have the participation grade in addition to your required 2 grades per week. Participation grades don't really help out if you are trying to show a parent why their kids is doing well or poorly.
We were always told at LEAST 2 grades per week on each subject. I was always told not to count spelling test grades as real grades until after the first semester, but I don't know if that's a district thing or a state thing. You can grade any activity they do in class independently, it doesn't have to be a test. If they complete a science worksheet or a writing assignment, you can take grades for those things.
thanks for your help
I've sent you an e-mail TeachersRock.
