Wow! I did not expect a response from an interview this quickly! The p has called back and left a message for me to call back. I am sure it is to offer a position as she called my references today. However, I have another interview 2morrow in a district that's kinda hard to get into. Wondering if I should call her back or wait until after tomorrow's interview. I don't want to say yes and then also get offered the other job if things go well. Not sure what to do. Any advice?

Call the P back and listen to exactly what is offered. Ask for several days to think it over. Go to the other interview and tell them that you already have a job offer and find out their time line. don't forget about that "bird in hand" adage. Good luck!

I would call back and see if you are offered the job or not and if you are then you could ask for some time to think it over with your family.

How nice to possibly have choices right? Are they both for the same grade level? What about location? Go with your gut feeling. I agree with above posters, I would call the P today and then ask if I could give her an answer tomorrow. Good luck!! :)

I agree to call back, see exactly what the P is offering, go to the interview tomorrow, and tell them that you have an offer on the table.

It was a definite job offer. The p also gave me a choice on what I wanted to teach as she has a couple other positions that will become available, one of which is my most favorite and which I have had experience teaching in the past. She's giving me a couple of days to think about it. Depending on how tomorrow goes, I may take the offer.

One of my favorite attributes of administrators is assertiveness.

The fact that this p knows what she wants and has taken the steps to get it speaks volumes to me.

When I hear about missed appointments and administrators taking forever to respond on the other threads, it frustrates me to no end (I went through the same thing in my job hunt).

If your p is this assertive now, you can guarantee she'll be as assertive when you work for her. And to me, this is one of the best qualities a p can have. It's what they're there to do: make decisions.

I had a P call me a WEEK late to tell me she wanted to interview me. By that time I had already received a job offer from a previous interview (who coincidentally took less than a week to hire me).

Ever since then, my p has helped me and called me at least 3 times a month making sure I have a place to stay and people to surround myself with.

Good luck; I just wanted to say I think the world of the p who is going after what she wants.

I agree. A P who makes decisions in a timely manner speaks volumes about their leadership abilities!

DeeCee - Just one word of caution. See how much they are offering you as far as pay. Go to their website and check this. Some districts in Texas pay very well and some do not. I know the other district you are talking about is more well known and recognizable... Weigh your options carefully and let the other district know that you have other interviews lined up. If they ask, you can tell them that you have been offered a position in Good School District but have not accepted because you wanted to interview with Great District first. Let me know how it turns out!

Also go to Great Schools and check out what others have to say and look over their public information. It is a great website to just give you an overview of a district or even individual schools. There are even reviews of schools. All the best and may the LUCKIER district win!

Also, think about travel time... which will be more convenient. Is it not nice to have some options... FINALLY?!?

Yay deecee! I think it's especially cool that the P has given YOU the choice of positions. That means you are the top pick. She didn't call 3 others and give them the choices and you get what's left. Pat yourself on the back and go and enjoy the next interview.:thumb:

Thanks everyone! I'm anxious to see how tomorrow's interview will turn out, but it is nice to know that I have a potential job for next year and that I get the choice of picking which position I want. :)

Is the district you PM'd me the one you got the position in or the one you're interviewing with tomorrow?

DeeCee - I am so glad we had a chance to talk through this forum. I TOLD you that this would be your year. You just had to do the uncomfortable and take some advice from someone who had to do the same. I see a very bright and rewarding career ahead of you in Texas. Let me know how that interview goes and DO let them know that you are a HOT commodity right now!
:hugs: for you! No whammy needed! You got this!

After meeting with the interview team and principal at the other school district this a.m., I decided to take the offer that was given me. The principal just seemed so much more personable. Unfortunately, the position that I had really wanted was closed because the teacher in the position was going to do an in-district transfer, but did not get her request in early enough, so she will be staying in the position. However, the principal wasn't sure whether the teacher was going to take a job in another district either, and she would not find out until next month. She did promise me that if the teacher does leave, I would be the first one to be given the position. Anyway, I am still very excited as it seems that I will be working for an awesome principal.
