A) ...need to be at school
B) ...actually arrive at school
A) Must be standing at the classroom door to greet the students at 8 a.m.
B) Typically anytime between 7:45-7:55. I'm not a morning person at all, so I make sure that when I leave in the afternoon that all I have to do the next morning is unlock the door and turn on the lights to be ready for the kids.
Between 750 and 8
Between 6:55 and 7:05
a) 7:50 sign in
b) I aim for 7:30, but sometimes it's closer to 7:35 after I wait for the sitter to arrive and then drop my older 2 kids off.
B)between 6:40 and 7:00 I prefer to work early rather than stay late. There aren't very many people there to stop and chat and no line at the copy machine. I used to do more work from home, but since having kids I do it at work so I can focus on them and they wouldn't let me get anything done anyway.
b - 7:15. haha
Ok, usually between 7:00 and 7:15.
B) 6:15... if there's no traffic/accidents on the highway
A) 7:30 AM
B) 6:45 to 7:00 AM
B) Well, at the beginning of the year it's around 6:45. As the year goes on, it slowly creeps closer to 7:15!
Wow! You guys have to be at school so early!
I have to be there by 8:40. I usually try to arrive by 8:00. Classes start at 9:00.
A.) Contract time starts at 8:15, but classes don't start until 8:55.
B.) I get to school around 7 (I prefer to work early and leave right when the bell rings after school, since we don't get out until 3:30!).
1. contracted time is 7:25 (interestingly, the bell allows students to enter at 7:23
2. I'm there by 6:45.
B. 8:39 (sometimes earlier)
The students start at 8:50.
Class starts at 8:30, but we need to be there by 8:00. I usually get there around 7:30/7:45 depending on traffic.
I have to be at school by 7:10.
I usually arrive at 7:10! (I'm not a morning person at all! :yawn
Disclaimer: I haven't had a first period class for the past few years (Per. 1 has been my planning or team meeting period for about three years.) In years that I have a class first thing in the morning, I usually get to work at around 6:50 so I have some more time to get myself organized for the day.
depends on the principal that year.
last year he sent us letters saying we had to be there at 8:15 but within a week she verbally told us 8:00. Most people decided to honor the written word First bell rings at 8:25.
I typically got there at 7:45. This year will be different - I will probably get to work right at 8:15.
A) Too early...........
B) Too damned early!
A) Last year it was 7:45. This year we're starting later so I don't know what time we'll have to be there.
B) 7:45!! I am so not a morning person!
A) 8:10 (school starts at 8:20)
B) 7:00 at the beginning of the year, then 7:45
Even though I don't live that many miles away - the traffic is awful. I can leave my house at 6 and get to work by 6:30. Or I leave at 6:15 and will be close to get there by 7:25. So, I get there early and get my work done
By contract, one half hour before your first class, so for me that's 6:30. I'm usually there between 6:25 and 6:35, though some of my colleagues breeze in at the first bell at 6:54.
We have a new bell schedule this coming year. I will need to be there by 7:10. I will probably get there by 6:45.
In years past, I needed to be at school by 6:45. I usually got there at around 6:30.
We need to be there at 8:30, students start at 9:00. Usually, I don't arrive until I absolutely have to because I am NOT a morning person and don't get much done in the morning anyway. I come early only if I'm way behind and actually need to get something done for that day (generally, I plan well enough that I'm not having to copy or plan or whatever for that same day). So I plan on being there way early tomorrow- but only because I'm just so overwhelmed with getting everything started that I need the time. I expect to get into the swing of things within the first couple of weeks and will go back to arriving right on time. I prefer working longer in the afternoons to working early in the mornings.
1) 7:30 am
2) 6:45-6:55 am
(during my student teaching it was 7:15, 6:40)
I don't understand how you guys can get there and start teaching within five minutes--or the cases where you get there "there right on time"! I usually have to take a few moments to set up the projector/my laptop, make last minute copies, use the restroom after my big coffee at home, check email, and then greet the young adults.
It always seems to vary even though I leave around the same time.
By contract, we have to be there by 7:45.
I usually get there by 6:30. I find that, like earlier posters, the copier is available, plus, I have time to set up my smartboard & such, and "get my mind right" for my little angels. I never leave without making sure that everything is done for the next day - pencils sharpened, morning work on their desks, etc.
I have a teaching partner who comes in right on time. Granted she teaches Kindergarten but there is still some set-up. She has the kids do it. They put the chairs on the table, so they take down the chairs when they come in. They have a set activity every morning that the kids complete when they come in. No last minute copies or bathroom break. Her school email is sent to her phone so she checks it from there.
If you do everything the night before, I can see where it can happen. It makes me feel rushed though.
Both of our 2nd grade teachers were actually late almost every day last year! Because my class is adjacent to theirs, I had to manage both my class (in my classroom) and their two (on the breezeway). I'm praying they have better timing this year!
B. Between 7:20-7:30. I get stuck in 2 different high schools' traffic, so it can really vary. Kids don't arrive until 8:15, so I don't feel the need to get there any earlier.
I usually get there at 8:20/8:25. Kids don't come in until about 9:05 or after. I prefer going in early to get things done...but it doesn't happen frequently!
We need to be there at 7:50. The kids start arriving at 8:15.
I usually get there between 7:35-7:45
I am not a morning person! And the kids don't start until 8:25 so I have plenty of time. I usually have my room ready to go in the afternoon because I know mornings are not my thing.
