for when you have to get ready for work?
I can wake up as late as 6:45am...for 3 mos anyway!
School days: 5 am.
But that's not for another month!
I haven't changed my alarm. It has gone off at 6am all summer. Which is the time I need to get up so I can be to school by 7am. (i like to get there early).
School days probably 5:30/5:45 am, so that I can be at school for 7 am.
During the school year, I usually get up around 4:30 a.m. I don't need to be up this early but my preference is to do work in the morning when I'm fresh rather than in the evening when I'm tried. I don't often need my alarm but if I do, my alarm is actually set for 6 a.m. I would have to be really tired to sleep until my alarm goes off. In the end, I have to have both me and my son out the door by 7:45 a.m. when we are going to school/work so getting up at 6 gives us plenty of time if that is how it plays out.
Of course the flip side of this is that during the school year, I often go to bed around 9 p.m.
I'm horrible-I only get up about 30 minutes before I need to leave. So a lot of times I would not get up until 7 when I need to leave by 7:30 at the latest. I was a little better last year and got up around 6:40 and left at 7:15. I'm not a morning person at all. I don't usually go to bed until around midnight on school nights-I need to start going to bed earlier.
I don't set an alarm--I wake by myself, without fail, and am up sometime between 5:00 and 5:15am. If, so some bizarre reason, I didn't wake up, my husband gets up sometime between 6:15 and 6:30, which would still give me enough time to get ready, out the door (I could be out the door in 15 minutes if I needed to be) and still be one of the first people at work! I'm up early, early because I like to be, not because I have to be.
I set my alarm for 6:15. Most mornings I do not get out of bed until 6:30. I leave my house by 7:15 and get to work between 7:45-8:00. I do not have to be at work until 8:25.
I usually like to stay an hour after school to do my work since most of my colleagues leave right after school gets out. I like to clean up at the end of the day and set up for the next day.
I'm not sure what my new time will be with the new job! Not sure exactly when school starts or when I have to be there yet. I was waking up between 6:00-6:15 and left by 7:00. It will probably be very similar!!!
DH and I both get up at 5:40. That may be reset to 5:30 with the dog now. We leave at 6:30 if we are taking the bus, but I can leave as late as 7:15 if I am driving.
I am so not a morning person, and it hass been fantastic not needing an alarm set for the bulk of the usmmer... i think that makes it more effective on the mornings I DO need to get up by a certain time.
Last year, alarm went off around 6, snoozed for it 15-20 minutes, and I was out the door by 7:30. I'm 15-20 minutes from school, so I normally got there roughly 7:45... we don't HAVE to be there til 8:10 or 8:15, but I need moe than 15 minutes before the kids arrive... but if I'm too early, I'll get involved iwth something I can't finish yet, which iwll drive me nuts. I could usually get more work done after school since a lot of people left as soon as they could... less distractions means i can get more work done
This year, school is roughly the same distance away... teacher hours are the same, but I don't know how early people normally get there, so will experiment a bit... but it'll probably be about the same.
445 to get up and walk
then get ready from 6-6:45
leave the house at 6:45 and be at work by 6:55
My alarm goes off at 5 and I'm out the door at 6. I get to school around 7 if there isn't an accident or problem on the freeway.
I set the alarm for 5:00. I spend an hour getting reading and reading on the computer and leave at 6:00. I'm at work at about 6:40. I must be in my classroom by 7:15 and I prefer to not arrive after 7:00 so I can leave as late as 6:20 but not past that without feeling stressed.
I am NOT looking forward to the 5am alarm in 2 1/2 weeks as I am currently sleeping until 7:00 or 7:30.
My alarm is set for 6:00 . . . although I've gotten up at 6:00 since my first year of college, so my body is on "automatic wakeup" at that time anyway. I still always set my clock, although I'm very rarely asleep when it goes off.
I teach in the evenings
My alarm goes off at 4am and I leave the house by 7:30 to be at work by 8:00. I am a morning person and would rather do the bulk of my work early in the morning. I've even been known to get up at 3am to go grocery shopping
I used to be a morning person; not so much anymore. I just can't stand where I work so I don't want to actually get up. Anyway… I have three alarms set on my phone: one is for 6a.m., the other is 6:45; and in very rare occasions I sleep through both of those the last one is set for 7:15. I am usually out the door by 7:30/ 7:45 and at work by 8:15ish
Summer: 5:30 (I meet another teacher to workout at 6:30)
During school: 4:30 (I like to get to school before 7:00)
Although I am more productive when I get up early, I am not a morning person! Last year I had to be out of my house by 6:00 ish to make it to duty b 7:05. This year I think I don't have to report until 7:30 & I have a shorter commute. This means I dont' have to get up until 6:00ish! I am sooooo excited abut this! :thumb:
Now that we've moved, I'm crazy close to school. So I get up at 6:30, get dressed, get my 2 year old up at about 7:15... I can drop him off at daycare and still be in my classroom by 7:45. LOVE IT! I've been driving 90 minutes to college classes for 6 years, and 40 minutes to student teaching for the last several months.

Since the school I transferred to is closer to my house, probably around 6:15.
Last year, I set my alarm for 5:30 and snoozed at least once. This year, my DH will be waking me up each morning when he gets home from work at about 6:15. This year he will be able to help get the children ready while I am getting ready. Then, we will leave for school by 7:00...Very excited for the lack of an alarm clock this year!
It depends. If I actually manage to PREPARE the day before so I'm not scrambling around in the morning trying to pull everything together, then I can set my alarm for about 6:45.
If I do like last year (ie: being irresponsible and waiting until the morning to throw my lessons together) I will need to be out the door BY 6:30, but knowing me, I'll oversleep and not get out until 7a
I'm hoping for 5:45am--- give myself 15 minutes to "wake up" in bed and get out the door by 6:45am. It'll be a new and longer commute for me this year so I'm not quite sure what to expect (I know there can be heavy traffic though). But if I leave early and don't hit too much traffic, I should be there by 7:45 or earlier. First class starts at 8:30.
I'm using Google maps to plan different routes that I could possibly take.
My alarm goes off at 6:45 and that means I can hit the snooze and wake up in time for the local news at 6:55. After the news and weather, I get the kids up (7:00 ish). We try to leave the house by 7:45-7:50. I am about 4 miles from school, but it is all country roads and I can be there in 6-7 minutes.
With three children to get ready (including a baby to feed and drop off at daycare) I am waking up between 4:30-5:00 to be out the door between 6:20-6:30.
6:00 on days I have bus duty and 6:15 on other days. And I hit the snooze at least once.
My alarm goes off every day at 5:15 (year round). I exercise for an hour, shower, get ready for work, fix breakfast for my kids, and wash breakfast dishes off while they are brushing teeth and hair. We are out the door by 7:20 on school days.
During the regular school year I set the alarm for no later than 6 a.m.and have to be in school by 8. During summer school I set it for 6:30 and have to be in school by 8. Don't know why I need that extra half hour during the school year, as my routine does not change.

Wow, I wish I had the discipline that you guys had to exercise BEFORE work! I don't think I'll ever be a morning person. I think the perfect time to wake up is about 6:30 - 7am.
How late have you usually stayed at work? If it's anything after 3:00, you guys have some looooog days!
HAAAAA this thread kinda made me chuckle because what time I set my alarm for and what time I actually get up are two different things LOL I set my alarm for 6:15 butttttttt I don't get out of bed until at least 2 rounds of snooze @ 9 minutes each. So basically I get out of bed around 6:33 or so. I have to be at work by 8 but it only takes 10 minutes to get there. I only had off for 2 weeks at the beginning of the summer so i never really changed my alarm clock setting. I do have a weekend alarm setting that is set for 7:30 so I don't oversleep and waste the whole weekend!
Oh, and I have been meaning to exercise early in the morning but I never feel like getting dressed then going out and walking or whatever. I finally got a hold of my old stationary bike so maybe I can get up a little earlier and try to use that at least.
That's what time my neighbor gets up but she doesn't work so I have no idea what she does that early!
I'm in my classroom by 7:10 every morning and rarely leave before 4:30. I love that my school starts and finishes early--8:05-2:35.
I am at school from 6:45 to 2:45. I get up that early because I want to walk on the treadmill and have some "quiet" time before kids get up and the martathon to get everyone out and about starts.
This question was especially meant for those of you who wake up during the 4:00 hr in the morning!
I set my alarm for 5:30. We have to sign in by 7:10, and my daughter's school has a "zero hour" so she has to be there by 7:00!
Alarm goes off at 5:00 during the school year. I have time to putter on the computer after I shower, feed the cats, and eat breakfast. I'm in my classroom about 6:30 because I teach a 7:00 class. During the summer I've gotten up when DH is leaving for work, about 6:00. The big key in the summer for me is going to bed by 10, like I do for school; if I stay up late, I don't sleep well at all, and then I end up sleeping the morning away and I feel lousy.
