Currently I am finishing my third year of teaching and the only organization I am a member of is my county's teacher union and the NEA (not active, i just get the magazine). I want to branch out, meet other teachers and principals, learn stuff, bounce ideas off people, and really enrich myself.

    Any suggestions?

The only other suggestions that I could suggest would be with subject-specific associations such as for math, social studies, English, physical ed, music, etc. However, I think they might be more relevant for teachers at the higher grade levels (single subject instructors), possibly?

What about your states Teacher Association? I belong to the MTA- you could probably join the NAEYC- I am not sure what grade you teach, but it might be a possibility.

IRA is a good one-I'm a member of my state's chapter. They have really good conferences.

Try to avoid the Communist Party. It doesn't look too good on a resume. (LOL!!!)
