I am currently student teaching and have applied at nearby districts and at the district I am student teaching but haven't yet heard from any school. I wanted to know what month you got an interview call and ultimately go hired? Thank you
September--at the end of the first week of school. I interviewed on Thursday after school, was hired on Friday and started Monday.
I interviewed in mid-June. Applied Monday, got a call Tuesday, interviewed Thursday, got offered the job the following Monday. Currently job hunting now and have had a few screener interviews (those virtual mass-interview events). Also had an HR interview for a private school beginning of March, which I'll hopefully hear from once they're back from spring break. My current school usually knows who's leaving by spring break, so that seems to be when job openings start picking up. Before then... not much is happening, and principals are generally too busy with daily school stuff to do interviews for next year.
First job - August Second job - July Current job - May Jobs in my district open after the consolidation period ends, which is April/May.
Job 1–August/August Job 2–July/August We don’t generally even know our allocation and any vacancies until late April or early May.
In my home state, especially at the time I graduated, the teaching job market was INCREDIBLY saturated. Thousands of people were applying for each job, and it was just accepted that you'd spend many, many years "paying your dues" as a sub or para before being hired as a full time teacher. Districts didn't even bother posting or interviewing until the summer, because they didn't want to deal with it during the school year and they obviously had no shortage of candidates. My first year out I didn't get any calls until mid-June. I end up being hired in another state in late July. Here, interviews start much earlier, because there is more competition for candidates and pressure to "get all of the good people" before other districts find them. Most hiring is done in the spring with summer positions trickling in with late resignations. For my second job here, I was hired in April. For my current job, May. Most districts have a date around mid-March (ours is this Friday) where they have to tell probationary teachers if their contracts are being renewed or not, so you see a ton of positions posted after that.
Applied: June Interviewed: July Hired: August It depends on school, number of applicants, volume of enrollment....
I was interviewed in June and offered the job in July for my first job. For another job, I interviewed in February and was offered the job in June. I had long since put that interview behind me
I got interviewed in June and hired on the spot. ( They needed teachers there.) They put me right to work in summer school!
