You know how teachers love to blame behaviors on the weather...phases of the moon....you name it? What is the one thing that makes you want to call in sick?

We had really heavy rain today with flash flooding and they were bonkers! Kept going on and on about taking pretend showers in the rain, drinking the rain, wanting to go in the rain...argh! And here I have the audacity to try and teach them to read.

All of those things affect my kids. The full moon is most consistent, as I hear every teacher in the school comment on the same day "My kids were nuts today."

Any kind of celebration sends them over the edge!

I recently got a new student - a girl - and you would have thought those little 6 year old boys were 16! They just went bonkers over this girl!

You would think kids in FL are used to it, but O.M.G. The rain and lightening! They go INSANE during thunderstorms! Stare out the window! Jump in puddles!

Me: "What was the main idea in the story?"
Them: "Can we go play in the rain?"

Did I mention they were in middle school?:haha:

So here is a funny story. In the midwest was a terrible lightning storm. The electricity went out. Everyone was in the living room except the 4 year old girl. Dad went to check on her. She was in her bedroom, standing on the windowsill with her face pressed against the glass and her arms holding on the sides.

    "What are you doing?!"

"I think God is trying to take my picture!"

Any LITTLE thing that throws off the regular schedule makes them crazy! People don't believe it, but the full moon does seem to cause changes in some students' behavior...

Do you have restrictions about outside recess? We go out unless there are dangerously high winds or temps in the low teens. Do you keep them in because of the cold?

We have several grades at recess and it never fails - indoor recess someone always gets hurt, usually several someones.
