I currently teach 2nd grade (just got my contract for next year). I have taught levels ranging from Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd/4th split, and at risk students 16-24 at an alternative setting. I subbed all levels through high school before obtaining my first teaching position (while I was in Kentucky)

I was just hired as a Kindergarten teacher. When I was a sub I subbed mostly for 4-8 grades.

I've taught Kindergarten for the past 4 years. My principal wants me to move to 3rd grade next year. Any thoughts?

kpa1b2, third grade is actually my favorite. The kids are still young enough to like you and like school, but they are becoming very independent, and it seems like it is a year of constant growth. You see the kids learn so much constantly, that it is really rewarding. I would jump at the change to teach 3rd, but then again, I know that I am definitely not cut out for kindergarten. I love the kids ,but trying to teach them to read makes me want to pull my hair out!!
