We are looking at new Science books for next year. Has anyone got new Science books lately? What do you think of McGraw/McMillian for 4th grade??

We got the JBHM series this year. It's hard to follow and very boring. The students hate it and the teachers dread teaching out of it each week. The only thing good about it is that it has lots of science experiments for each week. Anything is better than JBHM in my opinion.

I am new JBHM science. Their website is www.jbhm-edgroup.com One of the teachers from last year pushed for this program in our school. She no longer works here. Needless to say, we are all .

On their website they list case studies in Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana-

They currently 'service' school districts in the following states:
    Alabama
    Arkansas
    Louisiana
    Mississippi
    South Carolina
    Tennessee
    Texas/Urban

We use FOSS kits. I like them a lot but they are a lot of work to prepare. We also can do any other science we want to do that aligns with whatever else is going on in class.

Ditto on Foss- Love ours!! Pricey though- and each kit only covers one unit...I don't find the prep that time consuming. My kid is the Rocks one- maybe other kits are less user friendly.

Does ANYONE use McGraw/McMillian? I think we might be getting that series? I didn't care for Scott-Foresmen.

We use Harcourt --It is pretty good. Science is my least favorite thing to teach but this curr. makes it pretty easy. I'd take a look.

We use Scott Foresman. It's okay, but kinda boring. But I hate science, so that might be why it's boring.

We use Harcourt. It's pretty good - I really hate science, but this series is pretty interesting in most units at least.
