    Cindy,
I'm glad it worked for you! I used it one year for a dog theme. I bought a dog coloring book, made tranparencies, and traced lots of dogs for my bulletin boards. It was fun! Now I do Garfield stuff every year. My collection is growing!

    change my mind

Hi everyone, I wanted to do my theme on turtles, but I changed my mind. I decided to go with squirrels instead. I thought about putting "Nuts about second grade" on my door, but I don't know what to put for my bulletin board. Need ideas please.

It works to keep the same theme! :) I do.

Though I keep pondering on the hallway bulletin board idea...

Our school theme this year is "Reach for the Stars". Our school is separated into pods (each grade level has a pod), and each pod is going to be named a constellation. On my bulletin board outside my room I have "Miss _________'s Shining Stars". I have little shooting star cut-outs with each child's name on it. Inside my room I have the "Star Student of the Week" and other star-themed things.

I was thinking "Welcome to Boot Camp--It's now or never!" for my 5th grade.

Or "The Queen Bee and all her Worker Bees"

Hmmm, if I saw the boot camp sign, I think I'd be afraid to come in! lol I don't know about that one. Also, with 'now of never' it seems somehow threatening....like 'you better not fail'

I'm doing a travel theme too! I purchased some boats, cars, trains, and airplanes to put their names on for AR, library, etc.

I haven't decided on my decorations, I couldn't find anything at the party supply store that I could use. I did get some motivational posters with airplanes, trains, etc to hang around the room.

I'm thinking of using "PASSPORT TO LEARNING" and have a big passport on the door with tickets with thier names on it. I plan on making pretend passports for each student and as read about a place, give them a stamp or sticker for them.

I still am in the planning process, even though school starts in two weeks!

I am entering my 3rd year of teaching. I have done "A Sea of Smiling Faces" with sea creature cut outs and pics of the kids. Also, "It's A Jungle in Here" with pics and jungle animal cut outs. This year, I am doing "Who Will Be the Next American Idol" with cd/star cut outs and pics of the kids. :)

I have a book theme within my classroom, so Im sticking with that, but I also have a door and two large bulletin boards in the hallway to decorate for back to school. One of them is going to be titled "Kicking Off A Great Year" and be decorated with football players that I drew(putting that art degree to some use!:)) and all of the students names will be on footballs. the other board I wanted to have football themed as well, and somehow tie in books...maybe something they have read this summer or...ideas? I'd like it to have some kind of student generated work. I thought this would be fun because we have such a high number of kids who participate in Pop Warner football and cheerleading, and I also used to coach.

A teacher at my school did "Hanging Up Our Summer Short-Sleeves" and had kids write about what they did over the summer on lined paper in the shape of t-shirts. Hung up on a line for a bulletin board, very very cute! (was 3rd grade)
