On one district's website, they have listings for schools that have openings that they say are Title II (and your contract is only for the '08-'09 school year). I feel silly asking this, but what is Title II exactly?

Thanks in advance for reading and responding!

I meant to add that the schools that are advertising these Title II positions are all Title I schools.

Title I refers to Title I of NCLB. Saying Title I "is" reading recovery might be a bit of a misstatement, as the actual title is pretty long and includes more than that. As a shorthand, though, it seems accurate enough (maybe more technically accurate may be something like "Reading recovery orients itself to the requirements of Title I" or something like that).

Title II refers to teacher retention in Title I schools. Professional development, training, class size reduction -- that sort of thing.

Wow, 3Sons, thank you so much!! You are awesome! :)

I'm definitely familiar with what Title I is (I student taught and had a LTS position at Title I schools).

Now I am off to write cover letters to those schools.... Thanks again!!
