I have my hall BB planned for v-day. Now I need something really quick and easy that the kids can make to hang from the clip thingies that hang from the ceiling!

Should I just let them decorate big white hearts however they want? I literally will have about 30 minutes to have them make something. Tear paper art is out of the question.

Anyone ahve any cute idea? I am kind of low on glue on supplies such as feathers and buttons.

I like to make the heart people with the accordian arms and legs. They look so cute hanging from the ceiling.

Okay, that IS what I wanted to do but how do you make them?

Is it big heart body and then accordion arms and legs with heart feet and hands? What about the head?

The head/body is one big HEART. The arms are strips of accordianed paper and the legs are a little big longer. You can put hands and feet on but they are not necessary. I guess you could do a smaller heart for the head and the big heart for the body. I just usually use one heart. You can add googly eyes and glitter.
These are some sites with Vday ideas that seem cute for hanging from the ceiling:

    Nothing

We can not hang things from our ceiling. The fire marshall won't allow it.

I've made the heart people before and the kids enjoy it.

1 large heart for the body
1 medium size for the head
4 small for the hands and feet
5 strips to connect the parts

I use red for the body and head and pink for the accordian pieces, hands and feet. I also buy the wiggly eyes for the face.

LOL We call anything hanging from the ceiling "flaming pumpkins" (because it was halloween when the fire marshall had a caniption fit over pumpkins hanging from our ceiling!) So, nothing from the ceiling, although, I do sometimes hang things from the light fixtures - that's not the ceiling - right? :D We used to make the arms and legs of our heart man out of crepe paper. We each had a piece of red and white. We taped the ends in a right angle, then folded them over each other (ex. red on bottom with white taped at a right angle, then fold over the red, then white, then red, etc) It's like the crepe paper chains we used to make in high school. I don't know if that makes any sense!

Oh I am so sorry but what would you say the widest point of the big heart is? 12 inches?

    Yes Christy, that make sense!

If you're really pressed for time, have them cut out pink, red or white swirls. You can draw the lines for them and all they have to do is follow the lines. After they cut, they hang down like those curly windsox you see outside, very pretty and easy. They could or you could attach a heart to the end of each one.

Ditto what driving pigeon said. We were not even allowed to have curtains until they got the "spray" and we sprayed them. Until then it looked like a prison cell block. We also have to make sure things are at least 18 inches from the ceiling if hanging on the walls and nothing is stored on the tops of our cabinets. Otherwise, if the fire marshall comes he has a fit.

I have the "A+ Student Work" hanging from the ceiling. Outside of my room I have more "A+ Student Work" and "Science in the News". I made a plant-themed BB "From Seed to Plant". I have student work of the parts of a plant and inside of a seed.

Goodness, the fire marshall sounds very strict for some of you.

I'm jealous that you get to hang things from the ceiling. We're not allowed to because of the fire marshall. I really liked BringMeWildflowers idea at the end page 1.

    Thanks BMWF!

I loved the ehow site. You rock!

I had my kids start the people yesterday but I have plenty of hooks so I am going to let those who have time make the swirl thingies!
