Just found out i'll be working the ESY program again in July. Last Friday we got our assignments, I will work the same program as last year. Our program is from 8-1pm, Mon-Thurs...so relieved...always a happy day for me:D:D:D

I'll have the month of August off so I can relax and enjoy life a bit more. I got smart, started putting money away for the summer, both from my part time job and from my tax refund (the entire thing this time:p so August will be much easier, no financial worries....want to go visit my niece in Rhode Island as well.

    What is everyone else doing?

Just chillin'. Headed to Key West in June, someplace else in July, and a cruise in August.

Not 100% sure, but my sister has a wedding, we'll certainly go on a short trip somewhere, do tons of hiking, reading, and hopefully will make lots of progress on setting up next year.

I'm working on my curriculum administration license, so I have graduate classes this summer.

A lot of Netflix, sleeping in, not getting "dressed", and two different out of state trips have been arranged.

Oh, how I look forward to summer vacation. Words can't express how much I love not being on a set schedule--even if it's just for a few weeks.

My school is year-round (I get compensated for this), so no full break for me. I'll have a couple of weeks to myself, including a possible trip to the Pacific Northwest.

Working the Scholastic warehouse sale for a few days to earn money for books for my new classroom and moving (local move, but still a lot of work) in June. Road trip with my mom to Olympic National Park and Victoria, BC in July. There really is no August - school starts early in the month. I'm also changing districts, so I'll also be doing quite a bit of work to get ready for a new position in a probably new (TBD) grade level in a new school.

So, it'll be a busy summer, but lots of things I'm looking forward to.

I diligently searched for a summer school position and have not been able to find one. My district quit offering it several years ago, and nearby districts will only hire their own teachers. I would love to have the extra money! At this point I'm just not willing to give up my free time to get a minimum wage paying job alongside teenagers, which would be the only other option.

When all is said and done we basically get 2 months off for summer. I am going on a cruise with my best friend in June and I will go home to visit my family for a week in July. I enjoy sleeping in and having a lot more time with friends. The great majority of my friends aren't teachers and they always laugh at my "summer availability" vs. my "school year availability." They know I'm pretty much up for anything in the summer. Usually by the end of summer I'm pretty ready to go back to school and get back to being a productive member of society!

I'm maid of honor in a wedding this summer, so I'm planning a girls trip. I'll also be going to Hawaii with the hubby. We'll probably go on trips with my family and his, in state though.
Looking forward to lots of fun and not much work!

I only have July and the first few days of August off, but I'm hoping we can go on a few short trips here and there within our state.

Working for 4 weeks, chilling the rest. I'll get about 6 weeks break total: five before my camp starts, and 1 after!

I work 6 weeks of summer school so only have 4 weeks off in the summer. I'm not going away on vacation due to my husband's new job (he hasn't accumulated vacation time yet) and lots of household projects have to get done. We might paint some rooms in the house and/or paint the outside of the house! If you saw the ugly color of my house you'd know how much I'd rather paint than go on vacation LOL

We've never been to Olympic and are super excited. Also, it'll be a welcome break from our 100+ temps all summer!

I get 8 weeks - it's sounding like most people on here get quite a bit more than that. I'm not complaining, though - we have more breaks during the year to make up for it.

Make sure to go all the way around: go up Hurricane Ridge (hopefully you're less nervous than I about driving so close to the edge...gah that was horrible) and do the couple short hikes up there, Crescent Lake, Hoh Rainforest, spend a bit of time out along the beaches...we took a week out there a couple summers ago and had an absolute blast - hiked a good 40-45 miles throughout the week!

I'll be working a little bit, subbing at juvenile hall here and thee, just enough for extra cash without feeling like a lot of work. I'll be going home to Hungary with my daughter for 3 weeks. We'll also visit Poland for 3 days, Auschwitz, specifically.
And a whole lot of camping and hunting, (lots of mountains, rivers and lakes) and going to Reno.

I'm not a real teacher yet, I'm finishing up my undergrad in English and Secondary Ed right now. So this summer, I'm graduating! ... And then going right back in a week to start summer grad classes. But still!

I think I'm going to spend my time revamping my lessons for the next school year. :D
Well, I will also try camping. Can you suggest me good places to pitch a tent? I have only tried the Pine Grove Furnace in Penn but you cannot do overnight there.

I'll do a very little bit of tutoring. Lots of reading, gardening, running 2-3 mikes per day. Looking forward to afternoons on my veranda with cool beverages, days on the beach with friends, baseball games, getaways with my sweet hubs.

Both for me. But, I'd rather talk about the fun activities! :D

    - I'm planning on going to an amusement park in May to beat the crowd before all the kids get out for the summer.
    - Nice, relaxing days at the bookstore, browsing & going through magazines.
    - A day trip to San Diego...haven't been there in probably the last 3-5 yrs now.
    - Have a fun day out w/ a cousin.
    - Hopefully a fun day w/ a friend.
    - Wedding ring shopping around.
    - Going to the movies even more.
    - Trying some new restaurants opening in my area

We will go on a couple of small family vacations. We have a high-maintenance 2 year old so we try to avoid any really long trips. Thus, we'll be going to a local state park for a few days with my family then spend a couple of nights at Great Wolf Lodge with the in-laws.

Aside from that, my biggest objective will be to improve my UIL Science materials for next year. Last summer I compiled a relatively concise biology book by combining a couple of biology textbooks into one resource without a lot of the wordiness. This summer I plan to compile a chemistry book of a similar nature.

It's my first summer that I won't be working at all since I became a teacher (or graduated HS actually).

I plan on getting married, possibly traveling somewhere, and preparing for my foray into student-hood again in the Fall.

I don't follow that closely. Just wishing you well . My son is getting married in Sept. She's had her ring from day one and they just recently bought wedding rings. It's on my mind which is why I asked. Maybe you mentioned having the rings or not. Sorry if I was distracted and missed you not sharing.whether or.not you had engagement ring. It's not something I come here to keep track of, hence the question. I I hope you find rings you love

Since when does, "shopping around" mean "I got it"? That doesn't even take any close following, as you say, to understand that.

you said "wedding ring shopping". I thought maybe that indicated you had an engagement ring already. May be different by you...are you shopping for both? In any case, have fun shopping!
