I know nothing about websites, but I was thinking of starting a Daily 5 website. Not that I'm an expert or anything, but everyone in my school has to do Daily 5 this upcoming school year, and I know it's an up-and-coming things for many schools. I did it all last year and LOVED it, and by the end of the year I had my system down really well. I would love to start a website with lots of pictures, just to show other teachers what works for me.

I have absolutely no experience with making a website, but I know there has to be some sort of easy, free thing out there somewhere. It would also be nice to add links to documents I have made, in case people want to use something they see on my site.

Any suggestions on where to start? Thanks!

    I'm sticking with www.weebly.com :) I love it!

****My district blocks A LOT of sites (not weebly though), if you can check it out at work before you invest all your time setting it at home to find out its blocked! Or is this something you would have just for the kids to check in with from home? If so, it wouldnt be an issue. Just something to think about!

It would be just for other teachers to use as a resource. I didn't think of the blocking issue...

Yea, so they would prob. want to look at it from school. I found out the hard way, set up this great Wiki in my grad class, then went to use it with the students and even edu wiki's were blocked. I don't think all districts are as strict as mine but def. something to look into. Like we cant check our personal email at work, yahoo, gmail, etc. So im not sure if google sites would be blocked-though ive heard excellent things about it.

Google sites is awesome. They have videos you can use to train you how to use the website. you can also use Google sketch up and Google earth. Go to sites.google.com. It is easy to set up an account and it is free.

Is weebly free? It took me to a page where I have to pay, but now it's letting me set something up.

I LOVE Weebly! I started using it this year to create an online portfolio and it's very easy! I didnt pay anything but you can pay to have an enhanced membership. If you want to check out my portfolio I made using it let me know, just so you can get an idea of what you can do with it.

Shutterfly.com is incredible. I love it because after you post pictures or whatever you can send updated emails to all your parents. You can add calendars, notes, documents, and everything else to it and it's FREE! If you'd like to p.m. me, I'll give you a link to look at it.
