I could only provide 10 options - but you can choose more than one.

You can elaborate by replying to this post if you like. :)

*sigh* I goofed, Amanda! I've been teaching 4th for so long I marked it without thinking. I'm going back and marking 5th, but I don't teach 4th any more!

I taught 6, 7, and 8 for many years, and now I'm teaching college. What should I put?

ChristyF - I adjusted the totals to reflect your new choice.

Jane - I was able to add another option. At first, my limit was 10 but I figured out how to increase that. :)

I am not a teacher yet. Just a college student going to ASU to become an elementary teacher. Although, I do want to teach FIRST grade. I love kids at that age! :)

I checked "Seventh/Eighth" and "High School," because I teach 7th, 8th, and 9th. Our school goes up through 9th grade, with 6th-9th being considered "secondary." :)

I clicked grade 1, but it's French Immersion. I was at a school last year where many of the teachers taught multiple grades from 1 to 9. I can't imagine that! Teaching a 2/3 split was interesting enough for me!

I found out this morning that instead of teaching third grade as assigned in May, I'll be teaching second grade. Last year I taught sixth grade and am very glad to get kids without raging hormones!

    teacher too

:) Although probably not considered a "real" teacher, I home school my kids. I'll be doing kindergarten, first and second grades this year. I don't state this much because I don't want to be "shunned" to the home school spot. I have learned a lot here! And in return I try to give my thoughts and opinions when I think they would be valuable.

HomeschoolSpot.com is a great place... definitely not a placed you would be shunned to. In fact, some people post in both places for different perspectives. :)

I teach 4th grade. I have taught all the grades from K to 6 at various times in my career. I love 4th grade now but I did enjoy K,1,2,3 when I was younger. By far the most energy was need for K,1,2 because you are always on the go with the children.

I'm going back to teaching after being a SAHM for the last 11 years. I taught for 4 years between 1990-94 in grades 4, 2, and 1. I will be teaching 4th grade this year. Even though I have two years of experience in 4th I'm very apprehensive as I feel I'm better with 1st and 2nd graders.

I am sure you will do fine! 4th graders can be lots of fun. They love to please and have lots of great ideas. Remember they have a few more years of life experiences to share. Doing some get to know you activities (include yourself) can be a great way to start the year. Remember they really like to share what they already know so I like to use their ideas within the lessons I teach. Remember that 4th graders are more like 3rd graders in the beginning of the year and that they are just like you and a bit apprehensive about the new year. I am sure you will do fine-good luck!

Like Aball, I'm not sure you'd classify me as a "real teacher", though for rather different reasons: I help people who want to be teachers in California pass tests like CBEST and CSET. Some of my students are undergrads or recent grads, some are in credential programs, some are having to take CSET after believing they were done with everything, some are career changers older than I am (never mind how old THAT is); most will teach elementary, but there's a scattering of secondary candidates across most of the subjects as well. I've only recently started venturing out of the relative safety of the CSET forum into other parts of A to Z - am getting some amazing ideas to use in my classes, where I try to make a safe place for the four-year-old inside each of us who's become aware of having gotten in very deep yogurt with the principal but hasn't yet figured out just why.

I'm starting next week on the 1st grade - for the first time. I'll be teaching a bilingual class which means teaching both in English and in Finnish. I'm a bit nervous...I have taught as a ESL teacher and a 5th and 6th grade teacher, so I have several years of elementary school experience.

    Wow teachintexas,

I taught 2nd grade for two years and went to 6th! Second grade was a blast, but they will wear you out. At least they will idolize you!!!!

I have been teaching 6th for the past five years and I love it. I guess I am a glutton for punishment!

    Have fun teaching second grade!!!!
