I am really looking forward to the summer break....it will be about 10 weeks since we aren't going back until September 1st, this is the first time this has happened in about 5 years I think, we always go back in late August. So, I am already making some plans since I will have more free time before and after Summer School this year.

So far this is what I have planned........

***Last day of school June 16th--half day--lunch & shopping with mom! This has become a tradition on the last day of school for us:)

***Summer School runs July 1st - 30th with Fridays off!!!

***In August i'll be visiting my niece in Rhode Island for a week and staying in her new townhouse.

***End of August my family and I are going with my brother to the Casinos for his 40th birthday!

And in between all that I will enjoy lunches with friends, relaxing out on my deck, and laying by the pool at my Condo Complex:thumb:

Last summer was a lot of applying and searching and not getting much done...ha!

Since I know I have a job next year and likely in the same exact position, I'll probably spend about 3-4 weeks worth of 5-day weeks (whatever 5 that my wife works) working on curriculum maps, extension activities, planning next year, etc, as well as my math competition tests that I usually put off til December ;)

I'll be home whenever my wife is off work, and will definitely not work at all during the time when she takes a couple weeks off from her job. We plan on lots of day hikes, disc golfing, and one bigger trip during her time off. I need time to decompress (feeling so burnt out after the constant 12-14 hour days and busy weekends), and want to read a couple books over the summer, too (plus one or two for prof dev but I'll fit that into those work times)

So stoked for having an opportunity to spend a bunch of time preparing for next year and making tons of positive changes for my second year.

My mom and I are going on a vacation to Colorado, Yellowstone, and maybe more this summer. :) I'm super excited.

Other than that, lots of relaxing, reading, going to the movies, and planning units for next year.

We get out this Friday, and will immediately leave straight from work to go to a board game convention. June 1st I move into a dorm for a month to run a summer program for gifted middle and high school kids. The first week of July I have jury duty. After that, I'll be getting my classroom and curriculum ready for next school year!

Our last day was supposed to have been last Friday, but with our snow days, it's not until May 29. We have two days of curriculum work the next week, and we are almost all moving rooms.

Heading to Florida for a week or so if everything works out. I'm dating a guy with a house there. He will be heading down before I'm finished at work, so I'll fly down later.

Have a Christian women's conference at the end of June. We go back to work the last week of July. Also having my house painted.

This is my last week. Woohoo! First week in June we have VBS at night. During the summer my daughter will have softball lessons twice a week for an hour. We've got to get my husband's truck's transmission fixed. I have one workshop. I've got a few photo sessions planned for the beginning of June (an engagement session, a one year old, two newborns and a hospital/new baby session - I do photography on the side).

We'll be too broke to go to the local water park but we've got enough stuff that needs to be done around the house to keep us busy.

    BTW, smalltowngal... HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I get out in the second week of June and then am going to upstate ny to visit my family. The week after, my best friends from college are both visiting me in CA! I am also celebrating a family event with my boyfriend that week, so I have a lot of parties. Then, I have a three week teaching course from 9-5 every day. However, my school is paying for it so I can't complain too much. I still don't know what my first day of school is next year, so I haven't plan the last week of July or August.

Two grad school classes - hate the whole program, but just trying to get some of it done during the summer when I'm not so overwhelmed.

Mini-vaca with the family to Virginia. We're going to check out King's Dominion, Busch Gardens, and Williamsburg.

I'm hoping for some vegging out time in those two months, too. :)

Can't wait to be done! I'll be tutoring over the summer.

I used to have this awesome curriculum for tutoring for ACT/SAT reading. I have searched and searched and can't find it anywhere. Well, a mom asked my to tutor her son for ACT English and Reading. I said I would do English, but I didn't want to tutor for Reading unless I had this curriculum because her son has already done my other ACT reading prep. Well, she called the company, spent hours talking to them, discovered that it changed names, and the purchased the (rather expensive) program for me! It was a very kind and generous thing for her to do. She's made multiple donations to the school (tons of supplies for the art department, tons of books for an elementary classroom, etc), so I don't feel awkward about accepting it.

So, I'll definitely be doing some tutoring this summer.

I'm done as of yesterday! We have a week long vacation planned in July. My kids and I will visit my sister and her family for a week later this summer. We may also make a short trip to visit my husband's family.

Other than that I plan to do lots of reading, movie watching with my kids, running them around to camps next month, gardening and getting back into an exercise routine! This was my first year back in kindergarten in 10 years so I'll also be spending time working on things for next year.

We're out on June 5th and then I will do two weeks of curriculum writing/revising for the district. We've had 2 ELA and 3 Math units developed over the last year and these will be revised, as well as adding a new ELA that my partner and I will write from scratch.

    After that:
-Finish the Google Educator courses and get that certificate
-Complete the CEUs that need to be done before September 1
-Don't leave the farm other than for groceries or to get my nails done
-Getting organized for next year; I'll be teaching the 5th/6th split instead of just 5th and moving rooms as well

We start back with the kiddos on August 12, but we're out next year the Friday before Memorial Day.

I'm flying to Disney World the last day of school this year! A coworker and I are going for EdCamp Magic and extending our trip for a few days to enjoy the parks.
I go to Vegas in July for the TpT conference. Besides those two things I'll work on a PD session I'm presenting in August and watch as much mindless TV as I can!

We are looking for a house, so part of the summer may be consumed by a move. Otherwise June and July are going to be filled up with:
    camps
    trip to St. Louis
    trip up to MN
    reading
    cleaning
    naps

Rockhubby is working through most of the summer, so I'm a little limited on my getaways. We're talking about a trip to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in August, but that's it. I'm hoping to spend this summer teaching myself how to cook.

    Plot Twist!

We bought a house and will be moving in early August, so much of my summer will be focused on planning, packing, painting, and finally relocating. Luckily we are moving only about half a mile away so it shouldn't be as intensive as if we were moving across the country.

This is the first summer I'm not doing summer school...on the one hand I really need the break and on the other hand I'm afraid I'll get bored (wasn't my choice to not do ss- my district is not offering it this year and nearby districts don't hire external people for ss). Our last day was last Thursday. None of my close friends here are teachers, so I'll have plenty of social things to do on weekends, but nobody to hang out with during the week. I do enjoy my alone time, but not that much of it! I'm hoping I can get people interested in doing some happy hours/dinners during some weekdays. I will enjoy sleeping in, binge watching some shows on netflix, reading, and exploring some new classes at the gym. In a couple of weeks I'm going to visit my hometown for a week and then taking a roadtrip to Boston with some college friends, so I'm definitely excited for that! No big plans for July yet, and then I'll be back for setting up my classroom in early August.

Right now I am binge watching Parenthood--actually cannot believe that I had never watched it. We will spend time in Gulf Shores. I might show up in Tennessee for National Beta convention.
