My dear hubby recently got promoted to director of the molding department of pharmaceutical company. Basically, he designs and makes the machines that make plastic stuff doctors use (next time you have an IV, all of that stuff was probably made by his dept.) He brings home the bacon so I can have fun for 9 months a year, and relax for 3 months. That's why I call him dear!

Subbing right now but is working on math credential to become a math teacher. Originally, he set out to be a programmer, got his degree, but never could find a job in this economy (it was about 6 years ago, but even back then there were no programming jobs).

My hubby is a HS math and computer science teacher. He's been doing that for 7 years. Prior to that he worked in computer programming and/or management for various software companies.

I love that our time off is more or less the same :).

DF is a chef! It's a comfy job (money-wise) but the hours are terrible - late nights, always works on the weekends. He really wants to go back to school to be a surveyor.

Mine is also an electrical engineer.

On this subject, but maybe a new thread, since most of you have sig others who have jobs without the summers off, and possibly work more hours, I'm just curious, does your partner expect you to do more work in the house? I have been living with my fiance one year now and he thinks since I have the summer off he should do nothing in the house and during the school year, he expects me to do almost everything in the house and all the cooking grocery shopping, but, he does not pay for me, I pay my own portion of all expenses. I think this is a little unfair, but curious to know if this is how it is in other houses? I have children from another marriage (ten year old twins) he does not contribute financially to them either.

We own a franchise - print and business solutions. Hubby runs it and I sort the mail.
In response to the summer off thing??
I call it his "BIG SUMMER OFF"! He does not do housework in the summer! He does no household errands at all. It can be a little annoying. I have brought this to his attention and now it is a running joke. It happens every year. He is doing better - taking kids to the movies so I can have lunch and go shopping. Of course, this year I am taking college courses over the summer so he has to step it up a little.
