Okay, so a few weeks ago I applied for a 3rd grade position at a school. I emailed the P, and his almost immediate response was basically Thanks, but no thanks. Okay so a 1st grade and another 3rd grade position posted a week or so after the initial posting. Well, I received 2 separate emails saying the same thing, that after reviewing my qualifications, he cannot interview me at this time. WHAT?!?!? I have tutored and subbed in this district for 2 years. I have gotten some great feedback on my resume and cover letter from others, but for some reason this one principal doesn't see what everyone else does. I emailed him back asking for feedback that would make me a more impressive candidate in his view. We'll see if he responds. I also sent out an email to a P (who used to be my AP in HS) who has wanted to hire me on 2 different occasions (1 was before I graduated college, though I had completed my student teaching...the job would have started the first week of Dec, and I didn't graduate until Dec 18. 2nd was the summer after my first year of teaching...he wanted me to teach 4,5,6 English and Social Studies, but I didn't have my certification for 5,6) to get his opinion on my cover letter and resume so we'll see.

The bad thing about this whole situation is that my dd will be going to this school in August so I'll be seeing him on a regular basis. Ugh! I just wanna tell him what he missed out on.

    Rant away!

What if you went in and spoke with him?

Sorry to hear that. Have you thought to email him again and just say you saw the posting and would like either position? I know it is hard. I had a school that interviewed and turned me down for 3rd grade and 1st this past Oct and Dec, and they just posted for a kindergarten teacher next year and I applied anyway.

That has got to be frustrating in an already frustrating job hunt.

I have seen your resume on A to Z and it and your qualifications look great. Do you think that he might not want you in the school with your daughter? There is a principal in my area who is know for not wanting parents of his students to teach in his school.

chem-I'm not sure he's aware that dd will be going there next year. But, if he does that might be the reason.

Jem and AFW-I have emailed him back asking for feedback on both cover letter and resume so now its just waiting on his response.

    It really is just frustrating!

I like the idea of going in to talk to him. It will get one or two results, he will become irritated or he will admire your persistence.

I think that getting the interview is the most frustrating part! I know what you mean about your dd's school. I sent a letter to my ds's principal which was ignored, fine, I know people are busy, but then saw her touring people around the school who were too young and dressed up to be parents. she smiled and waved at me. I just wanted to shout, "What's wrong with me!?"

So... not to hijack but I'm right there with you.

Ok..I know that this is because this isn't the school that is right for me. Now, I hate to say anything and jinx myself, but I had printed out cover letters, resumes, and philosophy of education to drop off to this school and one other tomorrow. I was looking over them today to make everything ready...well the one I really want (the instructional specialist) is perfect, the email looks good, nothing is messed up on any of the pages...and that's saying something for this printer...On the other ones however there are little messes here and there...sooooooo because one is perfect and the others aren't...could this be saying something?

    Ok, ok...I know I'm reaching. :D
