I was told that I have to take two grades per subject each week. Language arts is easy (spelling test, writing assignment or grammer assignment). Math is also easy to get 2 grades for. I have to come up with 2 grades for Science, Social Studies, Accelerated Reader, and Accelerated Math. What would you suggest? I know many teachers that only have a few grades for science and social studies for each 9 weeks. I have to spend 45 minutes a piece each day on both subjects. I will need to come up with 18 grades at least for every subject every 9 weeks. What do you take grades on?
Quizzes will help get you quick grades in a flash! I always kept it to like 5 questions, sometimes a bonus questions so they were quick to give, quick to grade and the bonus helped them pass. : ) Good luck!
My son's 5th grade teacher took grades frequent short quizzes (at least 1 in most subjects per week), unit tests, projects, essays, completion grades for assignments (everyday), notebook grades and accuracy grades on assignments 1-2 times per week per subject. She weighted things as the following: 30%: Tests and Big Projects 15%: Completion Grades 55%: Quizzes, Mini-Projects, Notebook Grades, and Graded Assignments.
I teach science and it is easy to get two grades per week. I do a lab a week so there is one grade and then I have them research two questions per week so there is a second grade. Participation is also a great idea.
