My Christmas shopping is going along well. So far it's a TV for Terri and checking my list for granddaughter (Costco has a BIG Minnie Mouse I think she would like) & step kids. Thinking of what to get DeeOhGee (my dog) probably a new doggy bed (she loves to nest in the dirty clothes she even pulls then out of the basket!) What do you get yourself for Christmas? I Love buying for others and giving but I also reward myself by buying items that I want. I got a new Belkin TuneCast for my iPhone/iPod so I can have my tunes in the car, I had an older model and it had given up for the ghost, I got a case for my iPhone, some body wash, and a Car Charger/Adapter for my Mac Book. ALL from Amazon! I plan a couple 6:00 AM visits to Walmart for more stuff . It is either clothes or "toy" type stuff....
I don't. At this point in the year, I do not buy ANYTHING for myself unless it's a critical need. But I get more than my share from others.
I bought myself some clothes that were on sale at deeply discounted prices. Usually I get most of my clothes from the thrift store, but these prices were so good I couldn't pass them by. Plus it'll be nice to have a few stylish pieces.
I bought a copy of Teaching With Love and Logic. I've got a group of challenging students in my afterschool program and I need some new approaches to correcting their behavior. I also bought a movie (one of many) that I've wanted since summer. Our local video store has monthly "Sidewalk Sales". I got my movie for $5 (no tax) from them rather than $19.96 (plus tax) from Wal-Mart.
I also usually buy myself some movies or books. There are certain titles I'm always on the lookout for on sale and it gives me something to do over the long break!
For MYSELF, I did most of the damage already, shopping & online shopping the day before & after Thanksgiving. Got 2 nice pairs of shoes, 2 nice leather bags, & a DVD season of a TV show. During Christmas break, my BF & I are probably going to Disneyland for the day. That alone for 1 day will be $175, not counting food or any shopping. For OTHERS, there's really no one to buy for, except parents & the BF. They all kow I'll be starting to save up for an apt & the things to go in it, so this yr may not be much. They never expect anything really anyway (even though I've gotten them nice things in past Christmases). Certain work people may get cards.
I buy myself so much little stuff during the year that I don't feel worthy of a BIG splurge, BUT, if I do I'll probably get myself a tablet of some sort. I really want an IPad2 but they are super expensive, so I'm thinking of getting a cheaper version that can connect to the internet, allow me to type word documents and read. If I don't get a tablet, then I will want a KindleFire
I got myself season 1 and 2 of Modern Family. I'm thinking about getting a color nook for myself and one for my daughter.
I bought myself a new TV and a Wii. I really need to get more active and in Minnesota it can be challenging to get outside in the winter, so I got myself a Wii and asked for a Wii fit for Christmas, but I also have Zumba for Wii to use in the meantime.
I got myself a Roku so I can stream Hulu Plus onto my television. This is so that I can go without digital cable and a DVR since I just moved to a new apartment with basic cable, so it will help me keep down costs in the long run.
I don't buy for myself. That's not what this holiday is about. I treat myself occasionally at other times, and I will probably get gift cards from students that I'll use...but truthfully, there's nothing that I have a burning desire to own. I'm a happy, content kind of girl.
I bought myself a Coach purse and matching wristlet and a dress from White House Black Market that I plan to wear when my husband gets back from his deployment (hopefully it fits by then!). I don't usually buy myself anything, but I got some pretty good deals. I've been feeling sad about my husband being gone for my birthday, Thanksgiving, Christmas, our 5 year anniversary, and his birthday, so I decided that I would spend the money on myself this year. I've been saving a lot with him gone anyway, so I could afford it.
My wife ....... at my suggestion ..... bought me a new pistol. It's a Glock 17. I have dozens of handguns but not this particular one. This one model really put Glock on the world map many years ago ..... (9mm, high capacity magazine). (I can't open it until Xmas .. when we will be in Florida) Outside of that I really don't need anything ...... (Actually I don't need the Glock 17 ..... but I really want one). This year we are donating BIG TIME to animal shelters...... and that makes me happy .......
That's nice to see that some of you treat yourselves. I think it's great. Life's too short not to from time to time.
I think of who can I help out more than what can I buy for myself....but I have a perfume I smelled in a magazine that I would love to receive! I hope everyone remembers others beyond families and friends to give too
The holiday season for me is to focus on those I love and on donations to charities. I treat myself 'from time to time' during the year, but the holidays aren't about thinking what I'm going to get for myself, or from others...that's just not what's forefront in my heart and thoughts at this time of year.
I agree. There is lots of opportunity to "treat myself" throughout the year. Christmas is when I focus on giving to others... and I love buying and wrapping!
The only things I buy myself during the holiday season is maybe something nice to wear for holiday gatherings and a book or two to read during the break. I usually get my books from the library so actually buying one is a treat for me!
I don't really get myself anything. However, relatives want a list of items I would like. So, I usually get most of the things I want for Christmas because my list is always really small. So, maybe a hot chocolate when I am shopping for others....
I feel like the deals are so good this time of year that if I see something I can use, why not get it? I bought myself some books on black Friday. I got myself a few new pieces of clothing on Cyber Monday. I always stock up on Bath and Body Works sales on Black Friday - a lot of it ends up as gifts, but there is always some leftover that goes in the shower.
To me that's not the same as buying yourself a Christmas gift, it's smart shopping! DS birthday is in February. We almost always buy his presents during the Christmas shopping season.
I have two gifts left to buy and I'm done with my Christmas shopping. My shopping for myself...is changing drastically...I just got engaged over the holiday and am in full wedding mode. It's funny how it takes over your life!
It seems like this whole year I've been buying/doing things for myself: -renovating my old apartment -purchased brand new pedal harp -spring break trip I won't be getting anything from Santa this year (aside from coal) if I don't start on my Christmas shopping. Yikes!
I usually buy myself some books and a tv show or two on DVD. I haven't gotten anything yet, but I still have some time.
I bought two professional books I've been wanting and I'll need a pair of shoes for school since my only comfortable pair are about a week from falling apart.
I just buy what I what when I want...I don't consider anything a "gift for myself". That said, I have bought a heck of a lot in the past month. We purchase a lot online so there are always a few packages arriving any given week, but the poor mailman has had to make a trip to the door almost every day for the past couple weeks. Mostly home things.
