I get an hour of duty-free lunch. I eat in the staff room since my students eat in our classroom. Once they are all out for recess I go back to my room to prep for the afternoon and the next day.

I envy all y'all that get an hour for lunch... During my SPED days, my "lunch" time typically didn't come until the last 30 minutes of the day, and as a classroom teacher, I only get about 20-25 minutes, between dropping them off, picking them up, and escorting one of them back to the classroom when they realized they forgot their lunch.

I don't know how those of you without lunch breaks can function though.

I eat in a small conference room with other teachers. We get 30 minutes, but it usually works out to be about 20 by the time I drop the kids off and leave to pick them up. I need that little bit of down time :)

Most days I eat with other teachers. If I'm too tired to socialize, I will eat in my room and relax.

Ugh. This is why I don't want to talk to other teachers at my school. This morning, as we're standing around, supervising kids, I mentioned that I planned my lesson this morning at 6 am (I was so tired that I slept most of yesterday's afternoon). It took me 20 minutes. (and it was a pretty awesome lesson plan if I say so myself). His reply:" I planned my lesson in 5 minutes. I teach math and these kids are not exactly geniuses."
This is what he always does, talking down about these kids like they're stupid, or making fun of them or talking how just tells them to be quiet and take their F in silence... So annoying, and often another teacher gets like him.

So for lunch I sit with the kids and the conversations are so much better, and more relaxing, even though I'm still dealing with students.

I work...I work from the minute I get in until the minute I leave. I usually do get to the bathroom once a day, but I am nonstop all day long. All.Day.Long
