I was in a 4th grade class, which had 4 kids that I knew from outside of school. They call me by my first name. One of the boys kept calling me by my first name, and I had to remind him (quietly, though) to call me Mrs.... during the class.

I was in 2nd for the am and 4 th for the pm. Absolutely great day.

I picked up a great idea for my class.... the kids were creating a scrapbook of their year. Each month, they decorate a page with writing and some clip art. What a great way to incorporate writing and a wonderful memory of the year.

Almost done with week 1 of my 2 week gig in 2nd grade. LOVING it! The marble jar really works for them and we have gotten two compliments from other teachers! :)

My phone has been quiet and I also turned down a couple. I just got a call for one that started 45 minutes ago and I didn't take it.

I had Kinder the other day. YIKES.

I love, love, love second grade to Mrs. B.

I had a morning 1st grade and a pm 1st grade. Yikes. The teachers were doing the DRA's in the hall, and the kids were off the wall even then.

I had Kindergarten today (my first experience in elementary school no less!). It was only from 7:30am-12:30pm but I felt like I was there for 8 hours at the end of the day.
I have a new respect for Kinder teachers! That age is exhausting.
Luckily I had a classroom volunteer (a Grandma) who was super helpful...I don't know what I would have done without that extra pair of eyes.

All of my super classroom management techniques I use in middle school went out of the window today with little ones.

Only 2 more days left in my 2 weeks in 2nd grade. I am starting to feel sad that it is almost over. 2nd grade is great! Young enough that they don't have attitude and old enough that they are independent.

Nothing! I walked into the two day job in a first grade classroom and was stunned, not mad, the lesson plan said "field trip: Zoo." Not too bad I love our zoo. The class I was in was small only 19 kids three out. And only 17 would have gone on the trip. I had 8 parents. Each parent had two to three kids. I just lagged with another parent and two kids.
When we returned to the school the teacher wanted the kids to draw a picture of the zoo. I let them draw untill "extra" recess. The teacher had a math game, but the school awarded the grade an extra recess due to behavior. I was so tired, no break at all...which actually isn't guaranteed. Its tricky because we still have a half hour unpaid.

5th grade! I was so impressed!!! As the students entered they came up shook my hand and told me their name and welcomed me to their classroom. The entire day was wonderful. The students were so well behaved. I would return to that class at any time.

    Special Day Class.

Was great... Course had issues with one kid who is on a beahavior plan... but by afternoon, he was very well behaved and it wasnt so bad... The aide told me he can have a tendency to hit and stuff, but none of that.

I've done Resource and SDC a few times now and find I really like it.

I've had most of this week off. They ran out of subs on Monday so I ended up teaching art. It wasn't bad. The teacher has two planning periods and the classes were going around the school taping. I was just required to be there and make sure they turned in the equipment. The rest of the week was studying for Praxis and taking the Praxis. Now I only one more cake to bake out of ten needed for Saturday. I think I work harder when I stay home.
