I have B.A. in Early Childhood, but no teaching cert. and I'm considering doing my Master's in Early Childhood because that is what I love, but I'm concerned that the degree will not have much value. The program lists the following career opportunities:
    Child and family advocacy
    Public policy
    Child development
    Parent/family education
    Professional development
    Higher education
    Working with young children
    Program management

-but I'm afraid that either A) I can't really getthat job with just this degree (Higher Education, for example), or B) I could get that job with just my Bachelor's anyway.

My dream is to open my own child care center, but it's very difficult where I live, especially without the money to put out or a space in my home to get started, so I'd like a degree that would give me some good back up choices, but I don't really want to teach.

    What do you think?

I have a BS in ECE, but no teaching certificate. If I were to go back for a MA, I think I would get it in education and get a teaching certificate.

I don't think there is much more you can get with a MA in ECE. Have you looked into Head Start?

Head Start for sure and some state funded preschools have a position for an "Educational Specialist" that requires a master's in ECE.

If you want to open a daycare, why not go for a masters in business?

Also, you CAN teach Higher Education with a masters, but only at a community college, typically.

Usually though they also require a teaching certificate.
