I'm sure this has been covered before but what books are planning to read this summer to prepare for next year?

My district gave me three to start with...
    1) The First Days of School - Harry Wong
    2) The Differentiated Classroom - Carol Ann Tomlinson
    3) How the Brain Learns - David A Sousa

I already had a copy of the first but I was planning to read it again. I have just about finished the second book. I will hopefully starting the third book today.

Other books I want to read, re-read, or skim through again -

Guided Reading - Fountas and Pinnell
    Guided Readers and Writers - F & P
    Words Their Way
    First Six Weeks of School
    The Morning Meeting Book
    The Read-Aloud Handbook
    Daily 5
    Teaching with Love and Logic

What is on your list for the summer?

    I am currently reading....

•The First Six Weeks of School (Denton, Kriete)
    •The First-Year Teacher's Survival Guide (Thompson)
    •Guided Reading (Fountas, Pinnell)
    •Words Their Way (Bear)
•The First Days of School (Wong)
    •The Morning Meeting Book (Kriete)

    I've already finished reading...

    •Kid Writing (Feldgus, Cardonick)
•Teaching Reading and Writing with Word Walls (Wagstaff)
    •Literacy Work Stations (Diller)

    I'm thinking about rereading/skimming...

•Teaching With Love and Logic (Fay and Funk)
•How To Handle Difficult Parents (Tingley)
    •Teaching Children to Care (Charney)
•1-2-3 Magic for Teachers (Phelan, Schonour)

Plus all the reading I do on these boards and on my ever-growing bookmarked list of teacher sites!! It's kinda nice having so many books around--I can choose which one I'm in the mood to read at any given time :)

I have already the Essential 55. I need to read Teach Like Your Hair is on Fire. I'll reread my CHAMPS book and do more research on Power Teaching--which I am super-excited about implementing.

I'm not sure what else I want to read. I'm thinking about Teaching With Love and Logic, but I am not sure if I really need to. I don't want to overload...

Otherwise, I have happily spent the first few weeks of break reading Mary Higgins Clark books. Now that is a vacation! lol

Those sound like pretty good lists, gang.

I've read Educating Esme and First Days of School. Right now I'm finishing up "You Have to Go to School... You're the Teacher!."

After that I'll glance through "Guided Reading" and call it a summer. :D
