    Hello fellow teachers,

I am writing a continuing series of summer vacation columns for education.com, and I would love to have your input.

Two weeks ago, I wrote a column about my students' plans for the summer break. This week, my column is about MY vacation plans. Next week, I'll write a column about what OTHER teachers are going to be doing for the next few months.

If you would like to be included in this column, please send me an e-mail: learnmegood2_at_yahoo.com and let me know what you'll be doing in June, July, and August. Especially if you're doing something really cool. Or even if you're just planning on sleeping till noon and watching TV all summer, like me.

I'm mourning the loss of my summer this year, as I have to work this stupid office job right up until school starts. I can't afford to miss a paycheck. But my mom is visiting for a week in July (hooray!) and we're going to hang out in the evenings then go to DISNEYLAND for a weekend. I've been begging everyone I know to go to Disney with me for the last 5 years. I'm a Disney WORLD girl, but I'll settle.

Oh, I'm also going to space camp in two weeks. I keep forgetting about that. I won the trip through Honeywell.

Wow, actual Space Camp! Reminds me of that Lea Thompson movie from 1913 (or thereabouts).
I have never been to Disneyland, but I have been to DisneyWORLD about 12 times, and I LOVE it!!
    Thanks for your input!

Hubby & I will be attending Origins game Fair in Columbus, OH. It is a huge game convention, full of fun. And, registration is free for teachers, plus they have special workshops for teachers as well. Should be fun!

Lots of baseball games (GO Astros!), a cruise in July and several workshop/conferences. In between I have a few books to reread (Love & Logic, Good to Great, and The First Days of School) and I will be thinking about the new schedule and center rotations. I am adding a Math/Science center time and adding more activities to the Literacy Centers.

I'm going to drive in, park the car by the barn, close the front gate, and not come out (unless absolutely necessary) until the end of August. I'm going to work on my scrapbooks, tend my garden, clean my house, and take naps.

I am spending two whole weeks at the beach and doing only what I want to do each day! Also, I will do some planning for next year, paperwork, etc. I have four workshops scheduled, one with Harry Wong, so I am super excited about that! Also, I hope to read about 10 books, just for pleasure and swim every day!

I am working at a fireworks company up until the fourth of July. After that I start taking a graduate course for School Leadership. However, I am going to Florida for a week with my boyfriend, and I'll get to go shopping and see my friends. I'm going to have a busy, but enjoyable summer :)

My sister was going to pay for my flight so that I could take her son to the caribbean to visit my parents, but my nephew broke his collar bone and has to stay for doctors appointments. So, now I am going to spend a week with them and then fly to Seattle to visit my other sister (I really just want to hit the american back to school sales ). My vacation is being cut short by 3weeks because my class is being moved to a school with a modified school year:(.

I also have to reorganize all of my files and binders. I am starting to sort them by topic/concept and then by grade level in an attempt to be more organized.

I LOVED space camp. Of course mine was a whirlwind 36 hour stay geared for fourth graders, but I had a blast!:D

I will be going to Vegas (for the first time!) in July and then I'll spend some time to catch up on reading/movies that I missed out on during the year since I was too busy to do them. I will also work on learning some new things to do in my classroom this upcoming year and start preparing for my new role as a technology coach on my campus.

I'm directing my church's Vacation Bible School of over 600 kids.

Then, I'm the Camp Director at our church's summer day camp for kids that lasts from the end of June until the end of July (around 100 kids attend this).

Somewhere in there I'll find time to apply to graduate school, take my MAT, and plan on starting my Masters in August.

I'm spending time with my kids! We're going to the zoo tomorrow. We'll be going to the pool a LOT. We'll go camping. And we're going to the beach in July.

I'll also do some yard and house work (much needed!) and take a Math class in August.

Mostly, I'll be really laid back and not do too awful much thinking or planning for a while.

PLUS I'll be looking for a job with a contract...
