Just curious what grade level, subjects, specialist area everyone will be teaching this year. Is it a new grade for you? I'm going into my 7th year in 3rd grade! Miss the little ones, but I love 3rd!
I'll be leaving special ed (which has been all or part of my teaching assignment for the past 7 years) and teaching a grade 6/7 combined class. I'll be teaching all subjects except for French, Music and Phys Ed. I'm so excited!
Third grade is an AWESOME grade... young enough to still love their teacher, and old enough to be more responsible. That's how I feel about 4th grade. This will be my fifth year teaching fourth grade and I love the age! When they come in on the first day of school, their eyes are wide open with wonder and I get to see them transform into these savvy fifth graders as I guide them. Okay...enough Hallmark moment.
My 3rd year in grade 1. I love getting these tiny peanuts in September - most who can't read - and then watching them become little scholars! It's incredible how much they progress!
Year six in 3rd grade. Departmentalized for the second year, teaching reading, writing, handwriting, and science.
I will be teaching 3rd Grade Math, Science, and Social Studies. I have taught 9 years in third grade and 2 years before that in fourth. Up until last year we were self contained. I am loving just teaching the three subjects to two different classes.
My second year in 1st grade, and my second year of teaching! I'm so excited not to be a first year teacher anymore - I have a TON to learn of course, but I feel more like I know what I'm doing this year! I LOVE first grade. They come in as babies and they grow and mature SO much throughout the year. They become readers and writers! I absolutely LOVE guiding that process and I am honestly looking forward to school starting! (Although I have a LOT to do before then!)
Title 1, mainly small reading groups with K and 1st graders. It will be my fourth year in the same job.
3rd special ed in inclusion (full time) I would have liked to go back to 4th but I'm very excited to be working with my new co-teacher.
3rd grade. My first year teaching just a self-contained third grade class!! I am looking forward to the year-but not the testing!!
I'll be in my second year of teaching music. This will most likely be my last year at this school, and I assume I'll probably be back in general ed after this (just because more positions are available).
My third year teaching 5th (math and science), and my ninth year teaching! I have experience in k-5 and I love my older babies
Changing schools- most likely 3rd grade for the first time. I still have 2 interviews tomorrow, so it could change!
6th grade! Fourth year teaching, third year teaching 6th grade, but a it's a new subject area so I feel like a newbie all over again!
4th year back in third after 9 years in grade 2. Still enjoying my summer....we're in tough contract negotiations, new standards, new teacher evaluations...love my job, but it's going to be tough going back.
After 5 years, I finally moved up from 1st grade!! I'm teaching 3rd grade (self-contained) this year, and I'm thrilled!
7th self-contained Special Ed. Looping with my kids up from 6th. It will be my 3rd year of teaching. I have had a new grade each year, including a year of student teaching. Some day I'll teach the same thing twice!
Hey Zelda I would like to know how you set your room up? Also any other tips/ideas you have?? I just accepted a k-2 Ed position and I'm so excited!!!
Moving by choice from 4th to Gifted 5th. I taught fourth grade for nine years, and this will be my first year in fifth grade.
I forgot to mention I am teaching all subjects in gifted 5th, also. Last year, I taught just language arts, science, and social studies. This year, math comes back into the equation-- no pun intended. 2004-2008: Fourth grade (taught all subjects, though we switched classes and I always taught the advanced reading. In my second year, I taught advanced math and LOVED it.) 2008-2012: Advanced fourth grade (self-contained, all subjects) 2012-2013: Fourth grade (L.A. Sci, S.S.) 2013-2014: New school, fifth grade gifted (self-contained, all subjects)
Nope. Evidently k-3 are being departmentalized. Fine. But I wish I had known before planning and purchasing.
I am director of a preschool in Riverside County that offers high quality preschool education so my concern would be to maintain a perfect balance of academic and social instruction that could provide the child a solid academic and developmental foundation.
Last year I taught PreK3, this year I'll be in PreK4! I've also taught Kindergarten so it's great to see the ranges of child development.
K-6 Reading intervention. Last year I did all the grades by myself, but this year I'm splitting the grades with another reading teacher that was hired so I'm not sure which grades I'll have yet.
