I will teach pre-first, which is the equivalent of first grade. I will also be at a different school.

Changing from 6th to 5th. I've been in 6th for four years. The 5th grade teachers have been telling me how I'll love this grade, so I'm hopeful because I can't have another year like last year or else I'm going to work at Walmart, lol. I'm excited and nervous at the same time. I visited with the other language arts teachers and can tell they are going to be extremely helpful. :) I love my partner teacher - I think we will be on the same page for a lot of things and work well together. She and I want to visit over the summer about our rewards, expectations, etc.

I'll be teaching 4 sections of chemistry, 1 section of Dual Credit Biology, and 1 section of Dual Credit Anatomy and Physiology. I'm beyond thrilled to kiss physics goodbye!

I just found out I will be in 5th again. Boo. I really needed to go lower to make myself more marketable.

So, I am even more determined to get a new job now!

I will be switching from resource math/language arts and inclusion science/social studies to co-teaching math and language arts. We are moving to modified block scheduling, so I'll only have three academic classes a day (wahoo!).

Rumour has it that my assignment next year will be 50% Special Ed (which I knew) and 50% Grade 6 (Language, Social Studies, Art and Drama). If the rumours are true, I'll be sharing the class with one of my best friends at school. We have very similar philosophies and teaching styles, so it will be fairly seamless for the students. I hope that my principal confirms, or denies, soon.

Mrs C, that sounds much better than what you feared-- has that issue been resolved? (Sorry, I missed a bit when I was sick.)

We still don't know what we're teaching next year. But as far as I know no one is leaving, and they seem to have trouble finding people to teach Geometry. And I think I'm the only one who enjoys teaching SAT prep. So I imagine I'll be teaching more or less the same.

I still don't love the direction Special Ed is heading in my school. At this point, I'm thinking that next year will be my last in Special Ed; I'm "all about" the kids and admin and the other Special Ed teacher are "all about" meetings, consultants and paperwork. It breaks my heart, but I can't do it any more.

You know what they say: You've got to put on your own oxygen mask first. You can't help them unless you're healthy yourself. Do what you've got to do.

I would prefer PHYSICS, because it is my favourite subject.

Co-teaching Elementary Algebra 1 with a Special Ed teacher
    Honors Geometry
    2 sections of AE (Accelerated/Enriched) Algebra 2
    1 section of CP Trig

I thought I wouldn't be teaching any seniors, but they had an extra trig section that needed a teacher. Overall, I like it! I'm glad I'm not just teaching one subject, even though this will require a lot of planning over the summer.

However, I have no idea how the co-teaching will work because the teacher told me that she's not comfortable enough with the material to teach it.

Me too but since I am certified in all the math and science, I tend to pick up the overflow classes.

I never vary much. I'm certified for grades 7-12, and I work in a 6-8 building. I'm certified for English only, so that limits what they can do with me. I've been teaching 7th grade language arts for years.

Sometimes I wish that I would teach the same thing every year. I have taught Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Advanced Math, Physical Science, Biology, Biology Ap, Chemistry, Chemistry AP, Earth Science, Environmental Science, and Computer Science, Computer Applications and Physics over the past 15 years. I tend to teach whatever they need for that year. There has not been a summer yet that I have not had to write curriculum for a course (I teach in a private school and we write our own curriculum.)
