I need some serious inspiration and I am hoping to find some new material for my Nook. I thought it might be fun to start a thread about what we are reading and what we just finished.

I just finished The Kite Runner.
I am now reading Lie For Me by Karen Young

I'm into reading historical biographies right now.

Just finished: Mary Boleyn...interesting because I'm related to her through my grandfather's side.
Now reading: The Wars of the Roses...I have many family members that fought on both sides.

    I'm reading "Carry the One".

For the past few months I've been reading books for our 3rd-5th book club for the kids non-stop...happy to be delving into some adult fiction for a change. :thumb:

I'm reading The Giver. One of my students recommended it, and she was surprised I hadn't read it. I promised her I'd read it, and it was 25 cents on Amazon the day after we discussed it. I bought it and started it last night.

Last book I read was the latest in the A Song of Ice and Fire series by G.R.R.Martin. called A Dance with Dragons. It's high fantasy and very dark, reminiscent of the real dark ages.

Currently, I'm reading The Wealding Word by A.C. Gogolski. It's kind of a sequel to the Rapunzel story or so I have been told.

It's by Livia Bitton-Jackson. She was a Holocaust survivor, so the book was basically her memoir.

Smalltowngal ~ I kept up with the first season until last summer began and then I moved to a place where TV and cable were not much of priority/ just doesn't exist unless you got cash to play with. Which is not me. I am definitely a big fan. Awesome representation of the books. Probably the best ever book to film translation I have ever seen. As far as that next book, I hope Martin doesn't die before he finishes it. It's likely going to be 12 years from now given his track record so far. Still, I'll be here ready to read when it does come out.

I just put a bunch of books on hold at the library. Hopefully I can get them when i'm on spring break. I just finished Death, Taxes and a Skinny No-whip Latte by Diane Kelly. It was a fun, mindless read and it reminded me of the Stephanie Plum books.

I will have to add this to my list. I find that time period fascinating.

I am half way through Lie to Me and I am really enjoying it. It's a fast, easy read, but it feels good to read adult lit. instead of baby guide books and adolescent novels.

Oh and I haven't read Hunger Games, Twilight or Harry Potter either. I feel odd saying that since they are so popular with my students, but I figure it's my job to introduce them to things they wouldn't otherwise read. Their friends do a great job selling the above-mentioned books :p

    My favorite. Absolute favorite.

It was the first book I read that really showed me the power and depth of reading. I was in middle school, and though I had always enjoyed reading, The Giver was just different.

I get my books at a used book store. I always have plenty to trade. I don't think I have used any cash for years.

The owner is wonderful. She reads most of the books that come in, and can tell you about styles, plots, etc.

I read whatever she tells me to read.

Waterfall, Handmaid's Tale is one of my all time favorite books!!! I love it! I'm reading Poison about a woman hired to poison a Pope during the Spanish Inquisition. It's okay. The author assumes the reader knows nothing of history, and that irritates me.

Just finished it- I loved it! I read a book for a class in college called Imagine! A God Blessed America: What It Would Look Like and How It Could Happen supporting a theocracy (modern) and it was scary how many comparisons I made between that book and A Handmaid's Tale. I actually picked up Poison from the library at the beginning of the summer and just couldn't get into it. I had a couple different books out at the time and decided to just switch to one of the other books. It sounded like it was going to be so good but the writing just bored me.
