As of last night, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo... I couldn't help myself after reading all the comments here yesterday. Micke has just started his new job. I like it so far.

 

I loved it too. I'm picking up The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo tonight at the Library. I put it on hold a few weeks ago and it finally came in!!

 

My copy of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo just arrived from Chapters--I'll have to start it tonight!

 

The first few chapters are really slow but please keep reading - it's worth the slow start

 

Starting to read The Book Thief, and will read The Host next. Guess The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo will come next.

 

Alright, good to know to keep reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I started it several moths ago but couldn't get into it. I'll give it another try this summer. Plus as a Swede I think I'm required to read it .

I'm reading The Help by Kathryn Stockett. Very good so far.

Right now I humbly admit I am rereading the Twilight series.

 

Starista~ I just read The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner. An ok, short read. I just re-read the whole series not too long ago.

 

If you like historical first century fiction, you must, must, read, The Scribe, by Francine Rivers. It is so . . . piercing.

My college age friend who is living with us for the summer recommended The Lightning Thief, which is entertaining and a fast read. Jr. High level but good writing I think.

 

Just wanted to make sure everyone planning on reading The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo knows that is a thriller/mystery.

If you like this genre, you will love this book!

 

That's my favorite genre! I'm only about 10 pages into the book but I plan on getting more into it this weekend.

 

I finally finished Dragon Tattoo - I know I've posted about it repeatedly - and today I went out and bought the other 2. Had to wait for the weekend Borders coupons.

 

I just started reading The Help by Kathryn Stockett today after hearing rave reviews of it. I love it so far.

 

I envy you reading this for the first time . . . this is such a moving book

 

My mother likened it to To Kill a Mockingbird in content and impact. We usually like the same books.

I just started reading Places and Spaces, or is it Spaces and Places, by Debbie Diller - super book w/photos and ideas for GETTING AN ORGANIZED CLASSROOM! Going in with both guns loaded new school year. Also reading The Element, which I highly recommend to all teachers.

After reading Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, I have started to read Wicked. It is excellent so far.

 

I read Wicked a few summers ago and really enjoyed it.

 

Has anyone read Sizzling sixteen by Janet Evanovich yet?? I signed up for the Read-It-First e-mails and last week got an excerpt from this book every day for a week in my e-mail.
It looks like it's going to be another good book. My favorite quote from Lula so far: "I'm only getting one doughnut," Lula said, getting out of the

Just finished reading Gone With the Wind. Not sure what I'll pick up next.

 

Yesterday I read Romancing Miss Bronte. Since I love Jane Eyre (and teach it), I really enjoyed the book. Charlotte lived through several tragic losses, but managed to persevere. It's historical fiction, but a very good mix of bio and fiction.

 

My husband and I listened to "Water for Elephants"- I was SHOCKED he wanted to because he has seriously only read one book in his entire life (Timeline). We are almost finished and it is great!

Thanks for the posts on here. I am trying to branch out my reading and have went online to hold a bunch of them at my library. I love my library- you can do almost anything online with it.

I've started a list! Thanks for all the suggestions...going online today to reserve books! (I love that about my county library system- you can go online to see if your library has the book you want, what other libraries have it, place requests...)

I started reading 'Lift' by Kelly Corrigan this morning. It's a quick read, only about 80 pages. It's written as a letter to her children- tells stories, life lessons about raising children. It's beautiful. She also wrote 'The Middle Place', which is a memoir of her battle with cancer.

 

I was up until 1:30 last night reading The Help. I even considered staying up all night to try and finish it, but didn't want to end the pleasure. What a beautiful, and sad, book.

 

Ok, you've talked me into it. I'll try to put The Help on hold at the library!

My mom has a ~30 page excel document containing books she wants to reads, sorted by release date and if it is a series she has already read some of

 

I just went by the library and picked up:

I was surprised my library had so many books that everyone posted about-it's the library on the military base and it's really small!

 

My library doesn't have many of the newer books so I have to request them from other libraries in the area. I pick up books at least twice a week so a few of the librarians know me now and when I come in the door they tell me if my books have come in :lol:

 

I was surprised when my library had two copies of The Help sitting in the new books area. My closest library is closed for repairs or something, but the next nearst is the main county library, and it isn't far.

It's so nice that we have lots of avid readers on AtoZ!! It always shocks me when I meet teachers who don't read much for pleasure.

I highly recommend anything that Elizabeth Berg has written.

 

Most of the teachers I work with who are around my age (25) don't like to read.

 

One of the other teachers who I taught grade 7/8 English with this year does not like to read--she teaches only a small number of books (the same ones every year) because that is all she has read. This past year, she used several books for Lit Circles with her class that she had not read; she used ones that I had used because she knew they would be good ones.
