Thanks Alice - they cleaned out his carotid artery last week, and he seems to be getting stronger, and his words are coming better. He may have permanent vision deficits, but they aren't sure. The doctors think he can get back close to normal in the next year. I know prayers work, so all are welcome!

I am lucky enough to have many things to look forward to this fall!

    1) Switching from a mix of 6th, 7th & 8th graders to mainly all 8th graders. I student taught 8th grade and I LOVE them!

    2) Starting year 2 of the new math curriculum that our department wrote. Last year's implementation was not without its bumps and bruises and it will be nice to start with a year of experience behind us!

    3) Watching some of my 8th graders from this past year grow as they move on to the high school. I had taught some of them each year since they started middle school and became a second mom to a few students. From 6th to 8th grade they grew into such neat little people and I can't wait to see who they become in high school!

    4) Going from a 42 minute class period to a 50 minute class period!

    5) Getting daily grade level team time back in the schedule! Last year we had to hold team "meetings" very quickly during passing period. It will be so nice to have a whole 45 minutes to meet each day!

We are departmentalizing so it should be interesting after being self-contained for so long.

    I'm really looking forward to:

Block scheduling. Instead of 55 minutes to 90 minutes. Yay!!

Going from 7th/8th grade to only 8th grade.

Small class sizes for 2 classrooms.

Having a lot more lessons on my new Promethean Board I just started using this year.

No more after school advanced class that was driving me crazy this year.

I will get more time after/before school to tutor students who are behind.

Can't wait to try out new strategies, such as math workshops, differentiated instruction, interdisciplinary projects.

Have a much better school year because our cluster team will stay together and since we know we each other better and are willing to give it our best next year, we can have a stronger year.
