SO decided to have a BBQ today....and golf...aka I'm prepping everything and running around bc of course no food has been bought. Tomorrow will be spent mourning last day of summer break and first time setting alarm clock Happy holiday all!!
MissCeliaB & thirdgradebuzz, when do you graduate from grad school? Not until Dec., 2014 for me! Wish it was this summer that just finished...or even Dec. of THIS year!
If I stay on schedule with my 3-year program (which I WILL or I will have to pay additional tuition) I will be defending my dissertation by April 1, 2014 and graduating in May 2014. I'm SO ready to be done. Getting my doctorate was a life goal of mine, but it's been a lot of work over these past few years. I'm in a pretty rigorous program-- some of my friends from class know people who are working towards the same degree through less rigorous colleges and they've had a much easier workload. It'll be worth the work if I can get through these next 7 months.
Friday was manicure, drinks with a colleague, dinner out with my sweet dh. Yesterday was some house projects, shopping. Today I'm heading out to get some back to school personal care things...new mascara, hair care products. Might go to driving range to hit a bucket. Tomorrow...family cookout. Dh is starting on pork shoulder rub today. Son and DIL celebrate one year anniversary on Tuesday and Dh's bday is next weekend...that plus school starting...it's going to be a busy week!
thirdgradebuzz, nice! Yes, I know what you mean about wanting it to be over!!! I'm working on my 2nd masters & although getting a PhD was always in my thoughts, I think I'm going to be done after this (2nd masters). I've been in some kind of schooling my ENTIRE life, except for a couple time periods for 2-3 yrs & I'm not in my early 30s anymore!
Congrats, Heart!! Friday~worked, took J to a playdate, and then hung out at the house. Sat~J had riding lessons, went to Lowe's to get some plants, went to see the bf Sun~slept, slept, and slept some more Mon~no plans yet
Last day of summer holidays! So far... 1. Done my workout 2. Laundry is going 3. Supper is in the crockpot (which will also be subsequent meals this week... gotta love leftovers!) 4. Registered for a 5K I'm doing on Saturday 5. Booked my spring break tropical vacation 6. Decorated a picture frame to go by my desk at school 7. Found a dead bird in the yard Phew! And it's not even noon! All I need to do is vacuum and then I can relax in the sun on the deck with a good book and a Pepsi :thumb:.
1. walking our new dog and praying she goes potty 2. cleaning out 2 closets and a cluttered bedroom 3. getting ready for DD and SIL to arrive in 2 days with GRANDDAUGHTER! 4. enjoying the beautiful sunshine!
My school will have two, 3-day weekends in a row these coming weekends. Anyone doing anything different from what they usually do on the weekends? They don't affect me personally. I'll just make sure to be watching the Olympics! It will probably be raining here & there the next couple weeks.
I've had one long weekend since December 20. I've worked two days. Everyone else has worked seven. Won't. Stop. Snowing.
Got the call early this morning for no school today. I'm going to do some light cleaning up around the house then venture out and maybe treat myself to a massage today.
I have another 3 day weekend. Our district gives a day off when the rodeo comes to town. Think I will spend it in pajamas watching the Olympics.
I have a 5 day weekend coming up for President's day. We usually have the whole week off but since we had a longer Winter break they shortened this break. I will probably read a bit, get the house in order and do some extra school work. I also promised my doggy I will make him some homemade dog biscuits!
My three day weekend isn't until next weekend, but we are going out of town. Just so happens we are going to the town my daughter goes to college in so we will make it a two for one deal. Going to the rodeo and see my oldest.
I had a 3 day work week due to 2 snow days...I love winter but I've had enough of snow days..it makes it hard to maintain continuity.
Our 3-day weekend is next weekend (Family Day on the 17th). I'm throwing a dinner party on the 14th and hope to enjoy some of my hobbies (i.e. crafting and cardmaking) the rest of the weekend.
This Valentine's weekend is another 3-day wknd at my work. I'll do the simple, yet always special dinner & a movie. I see!
Tons of snow here so my 5 day weekend won't be too much fun. We are not going out tonight or tomorrow night for Vday since we are so tired of the cold and shoveling and bad roads. I will try to find a movie to watch on Netflix. Can anyone recommend one for streaming?
My BF (& in a way me too) wanted to see Escape Plan starring Stallone & Schwarzenegger, so we rented it via my cabvle TV. It was good!
We have a long weekend here--Monday is Family Day. I definitely need to spend some time recharging after a stressful couple of weeks. Looking forward to some couch time with the Olympics and some good books. Three weeks until our March Break.
We were supposed to have a four day weekend - Sat - Tues - but due to the over-abundance of snow days, Tuesday is now a school day. If the horrible, terrible snow could stop falling (and it's falling now, grrr...) we could still get in our entire week-long spring break in April. This weekend is just about R&R. Hubby and I are going out to dinner for a belated Valentine's Day celebration.
Well, my first day of my 5 day weekend stinks! I have some sort of stomach bug and have not eaten anything except 2 slices of toast. The thought of food makes me nauseous. I promised my hubby that I'd make him cookies but right now I'm on the couch with no plans to get up any time soon!
Snowing here in Bergen county, jerseygirlteach...with more coming...stay warm! Sorry your break was cut...I'm off all week and thankful for It, but it's going to be tough making the snow days up...
It's been a great week off...go back on Monday. I've met some college gal pals for dinner Watched A LOT of Olympics Shopped Started on a new oil painting Spent time with family Made some great food Some household organization Tutored for an hour yesterday Worked out every day Fires in the fireplace with a cup of tea and a good book Pedicure today...might meet a former colleague later It's been a productive week, but also restful, relaxing and fun!
(This is now August, 2014) - Go to the movies...new ones out today & I got free tickets! - Maybe FM (farmer's market) tomorrow...could go today - Read a TON of materials for my work project - Tidy up my shelving unit - Relax, enjoy my new computer - My county fair starts today, but I won't go on opening day when admission's $1...way too crowded to enjoy it. I plan to go on Wed.
Last minute getting-ready-for-school. Moving my son--he's going to grad school starting next week. Finishing a couple of books. Buy small gifts for the caretakers and the secretaries. Buy groceries. Laundry.
I moved DS to college a 1 /12 weeks ago. Cleaned his room today. It will stay clean for about 15 more weeks. Then he'll be home for Christmas.
Saturday: Grading Papers Sunday: Updating Curriculum Maps, updating Edmodo Monday: Writing Lesson Plans
This was my first full week back, so i'm a bit pooped:haha: I plan on relaxing at home tomorrow. Make a nice breakfast, do some reading out on my deck, watch shows i taped all week, etc. On Sunday go to my moms for lunch and hopefully take a nice long walk since the weather will be in the 70's all weekend!!! And on Monday prepare things for the week; cooking meals, getting outfits ready, etc. This is my usual Sunday routine but since i have an extra day..i'll do it on Monday!
