:)I have an interview for a PT Preschool Teaching Assistant position and I'd love to hear what you think makes a good teacher's assistant?

I intend to teach in an elementary school "someday" but I can't be picky right now so I accepted an interview next week for this job. It will be a preschool class that has both typically developing students and children with autism.

    Thanks for your feedback!

    Traits:
    1. Someone who sees the joy and magic of teaching little ones.
    2. Someone who laughs and smiles and lets the kids know they are treasured and loved.

    Also,
A person with great organizational skills who takes initiative. Once you learn the routines of the classroom, be sure to keep up the energy! :) Best of luck.

NOT someone who stands or sits on the sidelines and waits to be asked to do something!

Along with what everyone else has posted so far (and it's a lot!), I'd say INITIATIVE. The best aides know what you're going to do next and just jump ahead and start helping... ie. passing out papers, pulling certain kids, etc. They are good listeners and know what's coming down the pike. Good luck on your interview!

Definitely someone with a positive, upbeat attitude who is reliable and takes initiative. It is so important that the person really love the work they do and don't just do it because they need a job.
