Hi everyone! I'm in the process of creating a webpage (actually it's a blog) and I'm trying to come up with some good websites for STUDENTS. I've got several for parents, but I'd like for my students to be able to come to my website and find fun interactive games that coorespond to school.

    Help, please!

hey, btw ... here's my website. I just started it a few days ago so it's a work in progress! Feel free to comment and give me suggestions. :)

www.freerice.com is a great one! The kids at my school love "donating" the rice while learning words. And it really does help people!

Here's a copy of the email I sent to my students last summer.

So, just in case you're bored, here are a couple of links:

http://www.computerlab.kids.new.net/keyboarding.htm . Do you need to practice your typing skills? Check out the links on this site. Some of the games are a little bit silly, but they're good practice.

http://www.safeteens.com/ PLEASE take a couple of minutes and read this. We want you to be safe, and I'm sure you have no interest in putting yourself in any sort of dangerous situation.

http://www.coolmath.com/home.htm - a variety of math games that are a little more advanced.

http://www.show.me.uk/site/news/STO631.html - Science games - the skeleton game is weird. (This one may have a different link, but you can find it from this site. There are other games there, too.)

http://www.sjlibrary.org/gateways/teens/booklists/index.htm - book lists for both school and fun reading, along with reviews written by teens, not teachers :) Also, the library has a couple of events over the summer - look for the calendar on the website.

http://zone.msn.com/en/catanonline/default.htm - This is the online version of Settlers of Catan, that crazy game that your teachers play every chance they get. You can also play at http://ladder.jsettlers.com/index.html. As always, check with your parents before playing online with people you don't know, and avoid doing anything unsafe, like giving out your full name, address, phone number, or favorite ice cream. Okay, that last one was just to make sure you're listening :)

http://games.yahoo.com/free-games/magic-pen - I’m hoping this works well on my new Promethean board. If you delete the “magic-pen” part, you’ll find a bunch more games.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/typing - a free typing website. It’s made in the UK, so the characters have different accents, but it’s been fun for my more advanced EL’s to “figure out” what they’re saying.
