    Hello All,

I was curious if anyone has any tried and tested resources for Ancient Greece? We're finishing up Ancient Egypt and I'm looking to get a head start on planning for Greece.

Thanks in advance for your help!

We hold a Greek Olympics every year. They learn about the different city-states, become team Spartus, Athens, Delphi etc, make up little plays about their homeland, then have a day of discus (frizbee), chariot (wagon) races, long jump, etc.

We make a layered book to show the influence of the Greeks on us today.
We write a letter as an exchange student between Athens and Sparta.
We use parts of this script when learning about the Pelopponnesian War: http://home.freeuk.net/elloughton13/gcontent.htm
We research a greek god, goddess or creature for our research project
We practice greek myths for fluency or in reader's workshop
We read the Lightning Thief to apply our knowledge of greek myths

I have a choice board/tic-tac-toe board for Ancient Greece. PM me your email address and I will send it to you if you are interested. A few of the activities include; write a song about a major event, create a BB covering one of the standards covering Ancient Greece, create a mobile, create a graphic novel, write a brief defending Socrates, powerpoint covering Greek art and architecture, propaganda poster supporting the Pelop. War effort as either a Spartan or Athenian, family tree of ancient gods, and quite a few others.

    I appreciate everything!

    I know I'm a little late to this thread . . .

But could you tell more about the layered book to show the influence of the Greeks on us today? I'm all about connecting our study of Ancient Civilizations to our society today. We definitely discuss the Greek influences, but it would be nice to organize it all into one place.

    Thanks!
