I applied for a position with the Girl Scouts to be the Program Coordinator for E. Washington and N. Idaho. Tuesday, after yet another day of being sick due to stress :( I received a phone call for an interview!!!!!

The position requires/needs someone with an education background with early childhood education. I am getting SO excited for this interview and am so grateful that she is ok doing a phone interview (I won't be moving for a few more days).

I'm REALLY hoping I get this position. It sounds like a good fit for me, I just hope I'm a good fit for them. I googled an avg. salary and lets just say the avg. salary is TWICE what I made as a teacher down here. Even if I get the job and make $10K more than what I did down here, I highly doubt I'll go back to teaching...not with the way things are headed :( but, that's ok....things happen.

    Congrats and good luck!

If teaching isn't the right fit for you, I'm glad that you were able to find a good fit that utilizes your education.

Apr, Girl Scouts is a great organization may possible by GREAT leaders!! I was a girl scout until 10th grade and I loved every bit of it (except the camping~ they only scouting thing I really didn't like). I think you will love the GSA organization and all the work they do to help girls become great citizens with character, honor and to embrace the power of the girl :)

Good Luck with your interview ~ I think you should really emphasize your ability to communicate with parents. Good communicatation was always what made a good troop better.

    Keep us posted

Thanks for all of that! I'm glad you were involved for so long. I was a brownie and then was a Girl Scout for a few years and just lost interest. I still have all my sashes and badges though hee hee I appreciate that suggestion you have regarding the communication. = )

Also, just a side note...I do like to teach and share knowledge but with the way things are going regarding teaching, I truly wouldn't cry if I found another avenue in which to utilize my degree. Would I like to teach again? Sure, if that's what the future has in store....

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you! Good luck. :)

What happened that made you decide not to go back into teaching? Just wondering.

My daughter is going to be a junior next year and she's still a girl scout. I'm the cookie mom. :) I love to help them in any way I can. Last year my daughter's troop went to England and France. The leaders did an amazing job at helping the girls raise money for the trip and it was the experience of a lifetime for my daughter. I'm most proud of how our troop organized and put together our town's Fall Fest to raise money for the trip. It was very impressive.

    Good luck with your interview.
