Has anyone taken any type of pill to lose weight? I know someone who took phenteramine (sp?) and lost nearly 50 pounds in 2 months. I also know it can be addictive- I know someone else who took it and didn't lose any weight, but it kept her from gaining it and she is addicted. I have been dieting since the end of January. I was super strict and first and now I find myself having lapses more and more. I have only lost 15 pounds and I have not been pleased with my progress at all. Plus, I am ALWAYS hungry. Well, my sister is getting married in August and I am the MOH. I ran around to 3 David's Bridal stores trying to find the dress she wants in my size to try on. None of them had one- I called once a week for 6 weeks to check on it and they never had one in all that time. The size below it wouldn't zip up, the size above it was HUGE through the bust. Every other dress I tried on in the size I was looking for fit perfectly. The lady that worked there measured the amount of loose material on the size up and said the inbetween size would fit. So, I went ahead and ordered it. I picked it up today- and it doesn't fit!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't get it zipped up past my bra strap. They don't do returns or exchanges, so I have to fit in this dress by August 9th. I am definitely doing to be super strict with my diet. Now that school will be out, I am going to be much more serious about exercising (I work a PT job so I don't have a lot of time and often fall asleep for a couple hours on the days I don't work both jobs). But, I also think I may need to do something else to ensure that I fit in this stupid dress!
Pills=bad. They can mess with your liver, kidneys and other organs. I knew a lady who took so many diet pills that she can not take other pills now because her liver is so badly damaged. Don't do it. See a nutritionist and a fitness instructor and get their help, or look into premade diet plans like Jenny Craig.
I haven't. Nervous! I have even bought them(Dexatrim, etc), but then tossed unopened!!! My friend used Alli(sp?) and lost some, but gained it all back. You have 2 months, maybe with school out you can exercise more. I know how hard it is to lose weight. If all else fails, could someone alter the dress?? One of my daughter's prom dresses didn't fit(purchased and altered in Chicago and we were 4 hours away) and a seamstress friend did something under the arm, etc., and it zipped!! Spanx??? Good luck and I hope the wedding is wonderful.
Definitely no pills. I agree with Mrs. DLC. I was in a wedding 10 years ago, and David's Bridal did the same thing with me. And, of course, the dress did not fit. So, I had it altered. No one even knew I had it altered. Find a good seamstress, and enjoy the wedding without the stress (which can make you gain weight) of trying to lose weight.
No pills. I so understand the temptation when a friend almost instantly loses twenty, thirty pounds...but I must wonder at what cost the trimmer figure came. I'm not a big fan of medicine in general, so weight-loss pills are out of the question.
I would say no to diet pills as well. I've tried them with no results. The only thing that has worked for me was changing my diet and exercising. Can you take some classes at your local gym? Zumba or TurboKick have been great for me!
I'm very wary & do not normally take any kind of weight-loss pills, haven't really in my entire life...except ONCE when I finally got a personal trainer a few yrs ago. During the course of a few mos, I took these caffiene-free fat burn pills by the brand Apex that my gym 24 Hr Fitness sells. It can also be purchased online. It worked & then I stopped for a few yrs, but I've started taking them again starting a month ago. I tk 2 or 3 pills a day w/ food, usually just 2 (one at breakfast & dinner OR breakfast, lunch, & dinner) & they work! I don't feel any different & the tablets are not habit-forming at all.
I've tried some a few times. They made me feel horrible-I almost passed out. I'll just stick with diet and exercise!
Like a lot of others said, I wouldn't take any pills. My sister and I have been trying to lose some weight together. She has been dieting off and on for years, and I decided to join her as I needed to lose a few pounds. I went on the HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) it does work and you will lose a lot, but I just think its misery that I will do without. There is not many options on food and it gets really old after the first week The only thing that kept me on was seeing and feeling the weight loss every day. One of my friends gave me a book called "The Overfed Head" http://theoverfedhead.com/ I would definitely look at this book. He basically teaches you how to control your eating habits and listen to your body. I was skeptic, but it amazingly works if you stick to it, and after the first couple days it gets easier. Well that's just my ...it probably sounded more like 4 or 5 :sorry: Good luck!
