Alice, We have about the same amount to lose! I have been working on it for awhile though. Down about 12 pounds, with about 15 more to go. Have really let myself go the past few years! I am doing Weight Watchers though, I could not do it on my own. But, I don't buy any of their food because I want to stick to "real" food as much as possible. I definitely had to cut back on carbs! So, it is Monday - the start of a new week! Here's to dropping those pounds! Harper
I discovered that if I ask my server when I order the food, they will have the kitchen box up half for me and only put half on my plate. It looks a lot "prettier" and I never see it, so I am not tempted! Love Weight Watchers!
Do you like to jog or just walk? If you do like to jog...you should think about doing some of the summer run series races...they are each Monday night at 7pm at a different state park. It is really motivating to jog with 3000 other people! The first and last are 5 miles-which is a little far if you're not used to it...but there are 4 5k's=bethpage, caumsett, et. and 1 4k=hempstead state park!
Oh, SO not going to happen!!! I hate to jog to the corner to pick up the kids. I won't even promise to look that up; I know there's no chance on this earth that I'll do anything like that. Nope, a walk is what I'm looking at. But thanks for the info!
Alice, I LOVE the Zone diet. Its a bit complicated but well worth it. It helps you to eat the right amounts of the right food. You can eat carbs but they should be healthy carbs....fruits, etc. Whenever I eat in the zone, I get to eat SO much food and the pounds melt off. What's better is that I feel so much better. It truly is healthy eating at its finest. Once I fall out of the zone, I feel yuck. Hmmm......maybe we should start a Zone diet thread. Its really not a diet...its a healthy way of eating and living.
Tiffany, I know nothing about it.. .can you give me a 30 second rundown or should I hit the other thread?
Hahah! I tried to get my mom to do it one year and got a similar response, LOL! She comes out and claps though. Enjoy your walking!
Hey Alice, here is a link to the new thread we started on the Zone. http://forums.atozteacherstuff.com/showthread.php?t=139954
STG - I'm following the Ideal Protein plan. I'm still in Phase 1. In this phase I eat 4 times day: Protein packet (variety of tasty items), Protein packet + veggies, Lean mean + veggies, Protein packet snack (super tasty). It is SOOOO easy, and my body feels and looks awesome!
So, guys, how's it going?? Two weeks, and 4 pounds gone. I'm not setting the world on fire, but I'm slowly dropping the weight. I'm allowing cheats-- at the end of the year party on Friday night I had a pina colada and a small piece of crumb cake. But I'm consciously trying to minimize the calories. I keep envisioning four one pound boxes of butter that I used to carry everywhere, but no longer do. It's a disgusting enough image that it's doing the trick. And Brian has joined in. He could stand to lose a little weight too. So he's been consciously eating a bit healthier and has dropped a few pounds as well. How are you doing?
I'm finally on summer vacation, so now I can work on those pesky 15 lbs that crept up on me this year! I *have* to cut down on the carbs. They are my downfall. I love pasta and bread (I managed to cut out potatoes last time I needed to lose weight and never *abused* them since, lol). I switched from protein powder for my shakes to a weight loss/management powder (http://www.amazon.com/Nutrition-53-...5VDI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1307962419&sr=8-1), which hasn't helped me lose weight, but it HAS killed my crazy snacking needs. I also started making my own yogurt - I can eat Chobani by the case, but when I looked at the sugar, I nearly died. I just mix in whatever fresh fruit I have on hand and drizzle a little honey on top. And... I bought a bike yesterday! My knee can't take running anymore (haha, hence the added weight), so bike riding it is. I'm going to make it a goal to ride every morning and over to the library/grocery store when I just need a few things rather than driving. I'm also thinking about swimming... it's a fantastic workout, but my community pool doesn't offer lap times, just open swim for the kids and the water aerobics classes - which means I'd have to drive to the gym. We'll see if it pans out.
Have not made much progress, but I have not been trying very hard either! But, this week the weather is beautiful, school is a out, and I am back on board! Harper
I admit I hadn't been doing well the last few weeks of school. But I'm back!! I've been going to the gym every day M-F, running for 30 minutes and then doing weights MWF. I've dropped 2 lbs in a week so I'm pretty happy with that. I've also limited my sodas to just one and am drinking more water and eating better!
NO!!! Tomorrow is my final exam. Next week my daughter graduates from elementary school. For a decent segment of the country, summer vacation hasn't even starated yet.
I started with a personal trainer because I really need a push to lose this weight. I also found someone here to go to classes with at the gym. I just got back from a spin class today.
After being heavy most of my life, I lost about 55 lbs. between 2008-2009. My struggle has been keeping it off while starting a new teaching career! My weight has crept up a little this year, and I'd like to lose about 8 lbs. this summer to get back to my healthy weight. I lost my weight by counting calories in-calories out on www.myfitnesspal.com . You can find me there under the same username. I used to log in faithfully, now I get back on if I need to check in and re-group with my eating.
OK, I just got off the scale... six pounds down I haven't been this weight in Kira's lifetime. I'm not where I want to be yet, but I am SO happy!
Yay Alice & Mrs. C! I just got back from vacation... I put on two pounds. Not terrible, considering. Workout tonight includes mowing my lawn - it has apparently decided to take over the neighborhood in my absence!
YAY!! I just got on the scale, and the last few digits were **9.5!!! I've made it past the number ending in zero-- 4.5 more pounds to go to my goal!!!
Yay, Alice!!!! Today, my weight was **1.2. I'd still like to lose another 10 lbs, but I'd be happy with 5!
I'm just trying to lose one more pound. I've lost 49, but can't seem to get rid of this last stubborn pound! Ultimately, my goal is to lose 8-9 more pounds, but really if I just hit one more, I'll be satisfied.
IRON willpower!!!! "No, thanks, honey, I don't want anything from Carvel. I'm trying to be good." Now I just have to stay on the computer long enough that I can't catch him as he's pulling out the driveway to change my mind!!
I have 4.5 to almost 5 mos to lose as much weight as I can. I know I've lost at least 5 pounds recently. Anyone have any tips other than the usual eat less, exercise more, & eliminating sugars, etc.?
Three's really no magic or secret. Watching what is going in and moving more is really the only way. Special occasion coming up?
How's everyone been doing? I can't seem to get lower than a certain weight for the past few wks...just have to work harder!
I am getting back on the wagon after losing 46 pounds from October 2013 to March 2014. Went from a women's size 20 to a misses size 12. I'm in a 14/16 now from slacking. Not much weight back, but out of shape compared to before.
