Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow! And if anyone gets to much send it over here. Now ask me about this in Febuary and I'll say I am sick of it but right now - LET IT SNOW!
I agree with Rosieo. According to the Farmer's Almanac we are supposed to get a Christmas snow storm.
The snow if fine.......but please, take this cold away!!! Sub zero is NOT my idea of enjoyable. This is way too early for the cold, our heating bills will be through the roof. I will need to get a second job!!!
I just got my heat bill and it is double from last month. I'm setting it down to 60! And they kids will just have to live with that!!!!!!!!!!!!
Brrrrrrrrrrr..........I know what you mean. It is awful we have to be so uncomfortable in order to pay for our heating bills!!!
They salted the roads here in anticipation of snow Wednesday night/Thursday, the day I have my ONLY sub job so far this week!
We got about 3 or so inches over nite!!! Rosieo here's what one almanac says... December 2005 8th-11th. Light snow, then fair. 12th-15th. Stormy. 16th-19th. Dry and colder. 20th-23rd. Light snow Ohio River Valley, then fair. 24th-27th. Fair and cold for Christmas. 28th-31st. Heavy snow again Great Lakes area, 6 to 10 inches.
Light snow that doesn't really stick or doesn't make any difference in whether school will be in session.
That's too funny. I thought everyone called them flurries. Although, in Florida I guess you guys don't see this stuff. A flurry is what Ms. W just explained. It's snow, but it's so light that it doesn't stay around.
Cold here today 20 degrees. Loved being out to recess that was fun! And it was windy. The joys of living near the ocean in the winter.
It was about 30 degrees here today and extremely windy. The kids were all amazed because the wind was blowing the snow all around outside off of the roofs.
A whole 4 degrees tonight...oh goody! For any other Wisconsinites out there, or cold weather people, is it me, or does it not matter how high you turn your thermostat up...it's still feels chilly inside the house!!!
Jen - I know what you mean about the thermostat! It just never seems to really be warm. My husband and I are "layered up" with clothes and slippers, but we still use a blanket to keep warm when watching tv. The weather man is warning us of snow on the way. It should be here late tomorrow afternoon or evening. They are talking 3 to 6 inches. We don't have any snow right now, so this would be our first real big snow. My husband has the snowblower ready.
It's 20 degrees out right now and my house is freezing too. I'm all bundled up. We've got snow on the way for Friday, but all I've heard is "significant accumulations possible." I wish I had a better idea of what we'll be dealing with!
My poor hubby doesn't have a snow blower. Poor guy has to shovel yet. One of these days we'll get one. We don't have much of a driveway to shovel though, so that's good. I still feel bad though. If we had the money I'd buy him one for Christmas. Unless someone knows somewhere I could get one for cheap? How much do they normally cost anyway?
Maybe I'll wait until they go on clearance after the winter and get it for him for his b-day or something (in May). Wouldn't that be a hoot...a snowblower in the Spring. Poor guy would have to stare at it for 7 months before he could use it.
We got a 1/2 inch last night. The first snow of the season. The roads are really slick, and we're the only school around that's open. LOL. I understand why we're not closed, but I'm not sure why the other schools are. I guess there has been lots of wrecks already down there. Anyway, we'll be having flurries until noon.
IT'S SNOWING! I was suppose to sub today 35 miles away, got up at 6 wasn't doing anything here, watched the weather still calling for bad stuff, and schools all around it were closed, so I called the secretary and she undestood why I didn't want to chance it coming down there, and about 30 mins later they closed that school. I would have been on the road without phone service and I wouldn't have known they closed it, so I'm glad I didn't go. This snow makes me excited! WOOHOO!
The flakes are getting bigger and the sun pops out for a few minutes here and there. I doubt we'll get out of school, but the kids are going crazy. I have 5 not show up today. One was sick yesterday so I understand.
How any of us are under some sort of winter weather advisory? I know we're under snow advisory for 3-6 inches by morning.
Is it common to get snow there Ms. W? Diznee, we don't have a winter weather advisory that I know of, but we sure have a windchill advisory. Would that be considered a weather advisory? Whatever the case, the wind chill and air is so cold and bitter. My poor wee ones haven't gotten outside all week because it hasn't even been above the teens...and it shows
I would say yes Jen. I just looked at the local news forecast....5-8 by morning and could be more or less depending where this front (or whatever passes)!!! Jen that means more lake effect snow if it's cold there!!! We probobly have a good 5-7 inches on the ground already!!!
Ok, just started snowing a few minutes ago again and it's coming down pretty hard! There is already snow covering the ground as well. Wind has died down quite a bit so it actually looks very pretty coming down...like a winter wonderland. It's still super cold though!
We are expecting 4-8". But I am staying home tomorrow no matter what. Can't even talk today. Kids sure had fun, while I had trouble getting their attention!
Yes it's common, but we get it more to the end of December to March. It's just so hilly and the roads are very curvy so it gets dangerous. When it snows heavy it comes with lots of ice.
