Headed out for son's bday dinner soon...rain coming down with forecasts of it getting icy and snowy over next day and a half with possibly more coming on Thursday. The past two Mondays we've had an early dismissal followed by a snow day...then a snow day followed by delayed opening....it's crazy! My Monday tutoring is out of whack with trying to reschedule or canceling...plus in school it's hard to fit in all the content....and these days will be added on in June. I actually like a snow day now and again, but this could be third week in a row with one! Anyone else experiencing similar snow scheduling issues?
Yes. If we have off tomorrow, it will be the fifth Monday in a row off. It's getting old, but hopefully in a couple weeks the temps will be higher and this will be behind us.
Yes last year. haha It seemed we had a snow day or a delayed opening every week. We lost basically all of our spring break, which was a disaster for the kids. I'm from South Jersey, but we haven't been hit as hard as North Jersey. Only one day off and an early dismissal so far.
We have "snow /weather days" built into our calendar year. I believe there are 3 of them. It is either a make up day or a day off. So far, we haven't had to use them. It keeps us from having to add on days in June, thank goodness! Stay safe!
No, but every week the forecasters claim that MD will get snow and then everything trends North. Now, we have had at least one delayed-opening every week in January, but that is not cutting it. With Spring Break two months away, I really need a day off so I pray every night for a full snow day.
The best part of online teaching is no snow days. Personally, however, my running training has been a disaster. I've finally broken down and purchased Yaktrax Run thingies for my sneakers. We'll see how that works, on the assumption the usual neighbors refuse to shovel their sidewalks (in a small school district with no buses, I should add)
Would love to have a snow day-- not just cold here and there. It's been a pretty mild winter. No drama of some ice or such. At the moment we're experiencing 60-70 ish weather. Some cold is expected but will be a few days before then and not sure how 'cold' it will be. Our 'cold front' is so NOT like the north.
Last year was awful. However I think I worked in the only district in the entire state of New Jersey that took a day OFF from the end of the year. I worked in Sussex County. We had seven snow days scheduled and used six I like a snow day now and then too but the past few weeks has been messing up my Monday schedule as well!
We don't have snow days, but we have had some less than pleasant weather! The biggest impact it has had on us is that the kids have been indoors for recess more often than usual because of bitter windchills.
We're off today, which I don't really agree with. It's icy out there, but I think we could have made it in. A day off here has to be made up another time.
Only half of my class misses school on bad weather days so I have to always change my lesson plans. I don't want half the kids to miss an activity!
I know a local school is up to 7 state allows 6. They are calling for below (like teens & 20s below) 0 end of week & beginning of next...could have delays or closings again.
We're off again, too. Today is our last of 4 built-in days, so if the weather doesn't hold off soon, there go the vacations. We have only been in on 1 of the last 5 Mondays, and even that week we had Tuesday off.
A local district just used one of their vacation days. I'm sure they will use at least one more by the time winter is over!
It's basically spring here in Utah. I can count on one hand the number of snowfalls outside of the mountain. Our kids want to play in the sunshine. I'd like a snow day...
