Random question- I have two school shirts from my last school that I bought to show school pride and what not. I transferred schools within the district. Is it "okay" to wear these old shirts to my new school? (when tshirts are allowed of course) One of the shirts is pretty cool and I really do like them, but I don't really see wearing them outside of school events. I already ordered a shirt from my new school so I can have spirit for them too.

I probably wouldn't wear it. Maybe to work in my classroom (setting up), but not on a spirit day.

    I wouldn't wear them.

We have a teacher - who was part-time last year and was given a full-time position this year - who would wear tshirts from 2 other private schools that we compete for students with. He coaches at those 2 schools, which isn't a problem, but you don't show up to our school in one of their tshirts.

Maybe it's just a private school thing, but that isn't cool.

Noooo. I gave my old school stuff to goodwill, or I wear the tshirts as pajamas lol.

That would not fly at our school. We are very competitive, and it just would not be ok. I've even had my principal mention jokingly that I wear our rival school's color a lot. (The exception: a local high school lost their head coach in a tragic accident, and the whole district wore that school's colors/spirit items on the day of his funeral to show support.)

"Spirit Wear" is a big deal at our school that comes with perks for students when they wear our shirts. I probably wouldn't wear something from a different school.

No. I wouldn't even wear it on staff only days.

Definitely not. I've worn my high school sweatshirt on throwback days but that's it.

    Nope.

Save them for when you have to paint your bedroom or repave the driveway!

If it's elementary I see no problem in wearing them. But middle or high schools tend to be more of a competitive mentality. So no go for MS or HS.

I work at two different schools. One for 30 years and the other for 10. I have way many more for the former. I have to be careful what to wear. I alternate days. I have made a mistake and hear about it from my kids.....

When teachers leave our school, they typically donate all of their school shirts. The school gives them to new teachers who haven't had time to buy one yet, and to kids who can't afford them.

I would - and I will this upcoming year at my new school - unless Admin asked me not to.

Oh, I made that mistake. I didn't know why I got all those strange stares from the students and faculty until one student asked me not to do it again. Students and even faculty want you to leave your past school behind and put all your effort in your new school. Please don't wear those shirts at your new school--even on staff days. I don't know if I completely get it, but it just isn't accepted by some.

I wouldn't think it would be a big deal.

I've worn golf shirts from other schools I've taught and coached at and the only reaction I've gotten from other people is, "Oh did you teach/coach there?"

I wouldn't wear them. I've taught at 3 schools. All of my school shirts from my previous schools are now workout shirts or pj shirts.

:thumb: I don't even wear my current school association's tee unless there's a specific reason why we've been asked to wear them.

Welllll doesn't seem like much point in commenting now, but no, it wouldn't fly at my school. We're also very competitive and it just wouldn't be cool. We absolutely DO wear spirit stuff for our own school. Again, competitive and big on school spirit! I think it helps build a sense of community and pride with the kids. I wear my other school shirts from previous jobs as PJs, like others have mentioned. I'm still fond of them.
