So...we'll have a Wii in our classroom next year. I'm trying to come up with some ways to use it.

This is the only thing I've come up with so far...

    1) Bowling - knock down 3 pins, 7 more to get spare (MAKE TENS)

That's it for now. Watcha think?

How about creating a Smartboard? With a Wii remote and bluetooth capabilities, you have your very own.

I want to know how else they can be used in the classroom? It is a fun idea but I am not sure how I would sell it to the administration!

I didn't have to sell it to my administration...they just told me that I was getting one. Wow!?!

Have a smartboard too, I'm thinking I'll get a little workout in before/after school. Besides indoor recess, I'm wondering what to do. :)

There are some quiz games that are on there- I have a friend who uses it for a "reward" but it is educational.

What a great marketing idea for the Wii people. (LOL that sounds funny) More educational activities to use in the classroom...I don't know if there are enough now to warrant classroom use.

What is the reasoning for putting a wii in a classroom. I would think that kids get more than enough video games at home already. I can't imagine how that would be beneficial, especially considering you already have a SMART board. Wow, and I thought education as a whole was hurting for money.... You'd think the money would be better spent on curriculum?

I agree that money should go towards curriculum. But I believe that it was a technology grant and that was one of the options, so money was not wasted. The Wii system was chosen for a few reasons..there will be an after school running club and when the weather is bad they will run inside with the Wii running program.

So are all classrooms getting a wii in order to run? How many students can run at one time using the wii?

All rooms K-2. Only 1-2 students can run with a Wii-mote, but others can run in place with them. We will have a schedule and the leader of the day can use their Mii and everyone will follow. All the other Miis run around so they will see themselves. Sound corny???

I've learned to use technology to my advantage instead of fighting it. It's also a great motivator and good for my active boys.

Sounds great, but I can see that being a big headache in my room. I would need at five, or I'd be :dizzy: after each session.
