The Mountains around will get snow and some of the high rises will too. Piestewa Peak is in the center of the picture. Camelback Mountain is to the far right. I live about 4 miles southwest from Piestewa Peak (direct line from Piestewa Peak back to camera). Carefree AZ is at the foot of the mountains behind Piestewa Peak and it is at 2500 feet

No, I was home nice in warm with my sweet dog, DeeOhGee, I was out a little earlier in the day and could see the snow clouds to the North. The snow was with in 20 miles of down town Phoenix. I have not seen pictures of the surrounding hills and Mountains Yet.
What is neat is when it does snow we get a definite snow line on the hills and mountains that you can follow all around the valley just this time it will be a lot lower.
Up in Flagstaff only 146 miles north they have over two feet of Snow.
They Closed I-40 and I-17 for a while

    Ah....Lake Effect snow....

Peter went to SUNY Oswego and speaks fondly of the "real snowstorms" they had there.

I live in a lake effect snow area- and we are thrilled right now with 40+ degree temperatures that will melt some of our 3 feet of snow! I can actually see small patches of grass!

I've had quite enough of "real snowstorms" for the weekend. I'd gladly change places with Peter right now

Well, keep in mind, he was a college kid.

No spouse, no kids, no car to dig out, no walk to snowplow, no responsibliities.

If classes were cancelled, they hung out in the dorms and drank-- the drinking age then was 18.

These days, a significant snowstorm brings with it a lot more to consider.

While I was at Oswego they canceled classes for Friday at 6:30 PM Thursday, with in one hour all the bars were full!
I had a snow shovel I rented it out I made over $50
There was a path to the bars that was only one person wide but with passing lanes two people wide.

BTW what year did he graduate?

    1982.

I bet that that single person path meant a lot less weaving back and forth on the way back to the dorms, huh???
