Hi, I am working toward my sped cert currently.
I would like to find a position in a resource room, or perhaps pulling out kids for basic skills. I would also like to team teach in an inclusion classroom.
What things do I need to know? What advice can you give?

    Appreciate your input!

    Kidatheart-

I would think that with the move towards team teaching and collaboration. It would be in your best interest to keep on top of those 'regular" ed buzzwords and things. You may have to work in a regular ed classroom and have a solid foundation in things like reading techniques, etc. Of course, you would be modifying and adapting things but I would say that would be important.

Record keeping skills must be good too.

Thank you for the suggestions :)
I have to brush up on those terms, I am working on team teaching and differentiation now and trying to really incorporate the terms into my conversations. Any others anyone can think of would be greatly appreciated.

I am learning more and more about guided reading too.

I don't know about where you are, but the two terms that are hot right now in special education are the Excel Model & Response to Intervention. Learn as much as you can about those.
