In early-mid August, I'm going to have my hairstylist do something different, after all, change IS good!

I have extremly long, dark brown hair & I've cut it quite drastically 2x in my life, so I don't fear that it won't grow back. It's back at my waist now. I've had highlights, etc. at the crown.

Are blonde ends still considered stylish like these photos? I'm thinking of having a nice cut & having it colored this way:

    Coincidentally, here's the same model:

    TOO drastic:

I don't (won't) color my hair, but I would go for that look if I did. Don't really know if it's stylish and don't care...it's pretty. :)

It's pretty when done well. Unfortunately the locals I see are doing it themselves. Their final effect looks like they dyed their hair and never got their roots done.

I've had an inverted bob for about three years, which is about the longest I've ever had the same style. It's been four different colors, though.

How much do you trust your stylist? In my mid 20's I started letting my stylist do what he wanted. I was startled a few times, but I always got compliments on what he chose.

I agree, it only looks good when very well done, and if you style your hair nicely all the time. Not a dye job to get done by a friend or a bargain salon. It's still trendy, but IMO on its way out. I'd do it now if you're ever going to. I'd also take off a lot of length. Waist-length is too long IMHO. The model's length is great.

Why not get a cute, short bob?

Change is good for the soul!

(I'm all about drastic changes. Got 10 inches off my hair this year and have dyed it bright red, dark brown, and light blonde since January!)

    Ooooohhh . . . that's cute.

I had an asymmetrical bob once upon a time. Black with burgundy highlights. (One of my stylist's surprises.).

I've never in my life told my stylist to "suprise me". I should do it someday, but of course have her show/tell me what she plans to do before actually doing it.

But then it wouldn't be a surprise!

I've had my short, choppy cut for several years now and love it. It's really the style that suits me best. I do like to have fun with the colour, and this is where I let my stylist have some fun. Right now, I have a dark base with coppery highlights, which is toned down from the bright red and blonde highlights I had for about a year.

I think the ombré look is fabulous, but I would make totally sure your stylist is very comfortable with it first!

I've been growing my hair out forever (really bad cut plus fried hair from dye job), and it's just now at the point where I feel comfortable asking for layers again. Provided that they are even and on both sides of my head this time.

I'm attempting to grow out my hair now. I'm thinking once I get it to my shoulders I can get it cut into a bob so it doesn't look like a mullet. Which it currently does if I don't pin it back somehow. Oh the joys of growing out short hair!

I trust her to do this well if she says she can do it. Whenever I want a new style I bring in a couple of pics & I've been happy with her results in the past.

I hope if you have long hair and cut short you donate it. I'm getting ready to do just that again... I hoping 2 ponies so it will be 8 to Pantene. Although my stylist (my cousin) said there's a place that keeps the hair to local people... I'll have to decide!!! That's my big change... every couple of years!!

Go for it! In two days I have a hair appt. I have lots of white hair poking through and I usually wait too long between having it colored. I have decided that I am going to dye it red and have some pink and maybe purple tucked into it too. I am usually conservative , but I have decided to do something drastic, so I say yes to you. Life is meant to be lived!

You know it guys! :thumb: Hey, we're only on this earth once!

If I actually cut enough for an organization to accept it, I'll definitely look into it!

Yeah, I don't hate it. Any look will always look good on somebody since we're all different! :) I just personally like more of a mixture of light & dark hair rather than the complete dark to complete light ombre.

All this talk about new hairstyles gave me the itch for something new. While I was out & about today I ran into my stylst's salon and told him to surprise me.

Went in with a medium length inverted bob. Came out with a modified inverted bob. Layered asymmetrical sides, wispy bangs. More sassy and less sleek.

I want to get a hairstyle magazine like I like to get sometimes when I'm ready for something new.

Sounds great! Ya know, Maybe I'll try a bob too, otherwise I'll have that ombre color effect cut in layers.

Don't know if I want to cut that much yet.

This is as close as I could come to a picture of a cut similar to mine: http://media-cache-ak2.pinimg.com/originals/9d/31/5a/9d315ad8a6c44369d8409ded575721a3.jpg

except my bangs aren't as long, and I don't have "professional" highlights - just natural dark brown hair with reddish tints.

I have considered a wig, lol... sometimes I long for longer hair ('scuse the pun), but I LOVE how easy mine is!

I don't color my hair, which really peeves my daughter - she's 25 and "has" to color her hair to cover the gray that keeps appearing!

Let me tell you, there isn't nothing easier than a wig! I get 30 minutes extra sleep in the mornings. :p Thanks to genetics and illness, my hair is very fine and thin. About seven years ago my stylist's "surprise me" was a wig . . . auburn, shoulder length. Since I have always been one for drastic hair changes, nobody paid much attention. It was a wig I had cut today. :thumb: My natural hair is always dyed the same color as my wigs so I can wear headbands, put my hair behind my ears, etc. most times I stick with my natural color, though.

I always change my avatar when I change my hair.
